Workshop

workshop on entitle ‘Engineering English’ was
A successfully organized by General Studies
Department and Training & Continuing Education Unit
on 21 April 2009. This workshop was held at Seminar
Room, ULPL, PSP. This half-day workshop was
attended by 16 English Language lecturers and 10
lecturers from various departments in PSP. In addition,
6 lecturers from nearby community college and
polytechnic attended the workshop.
The objective of this workshop was to expose
participants with several ways to understand academic
texts especially in the engineering field in order to
develop materials for teaching and learning.

Hari Mesra Pelanggan telah diadakan
pada 12 Mei 2009 bertempat di kantin
PSP dimana tumpuan lebih kepada staf dan
pelajar PSP. Terdapat beberapa aduan yang
diterima dan proses memaklumkan aduan ini
kepada pelanggan adalah dalam tempoh 14 hari
bekerja.
Unit Pengurusan Kualiti telah menganjurkan
Pertandingan “KHIDMAT KAUNTER
CEMERLANG” yang bermula pada 10 Mac
sehingga 17 April 2009 yang melibatkan 2
kategori iaitu kategori pentadbiran dan entiti
perniagaan.
Keputusan yang diperolehi dari pertandingan
adalah seperti berikut :
Kategori 1 ( Unit pentadbiran)
Tempat Pertama :
Unit Kewangan a 96.98%
(Sijil + Hamper + Piala + Cenderahati)
Tempat Kedua :
Unit Perhubungan dan Latihan Industri a
93.08%
(Sijil + Hamper + Piala + Cenderahati)
Tempat Ketiga : Unit Perpustakaan a90.99%

Tempat Pertama :
Koperasi a 95.9%

Hadiah telah disampaikan oleh Tuan Pengarah
semasa sesi Perhimpunan Bulanan pada 24
April lalu.
The speaker for the workshop was associate professor
Dr. Andy Curtis. He is currently the Director of the
English Language Teaching Unit at the Chinese
University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He is also an
Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum
and Instruction at CUHK. He has published in a wide range of
journals on English language education, teacher professional
development and language program development, and he has
worked with more than 10,000 ELT professionals in more than
25 countries over the last 20 years.
With Dr. Curtis vast experience in language programme, it is
hoped that the modest effort taken by the English Language
Unit to prepare the lecturers in developing material for
teaching in the classroom will contribute towards the success
of upgrading and raising
the standard of teaching
and learning of English
among polytechnic
and community college
lecturers.
