1.1.a. In Muara Baru and Prumpung Communities, Jakarta
Facilitation in both communities have relatively similar type of activity because of the similar
working plan. There are four facilitated groups in Prumpung (Kasih Ibu, Derap, Sejahtera, Anggur,
Sumber Rejeki) and four groups in Muara Baru (Marlina, Mandiri, Damai, PMD).
1.1.a.1. Discussion on cooperative
In the effort to provide economical tools for group member or community, a credit loan cooperative
is established particularly in Prumpung area. The idea comes up because the phenomenon
of “mobile bank” grab the housewives. The first step to do is to conduct discussion about cooperative
for all group members or community on February 4, 2010 facilitated by Agung from
Yappika and it was participated by 30 group members. From the discussion, not all participants
are able to understand the materials provided. The easiest material to be understood is basic
terms about cooperative, foundation and principle. Only few people understand materials about
cooperative management. From the discussion, a list is made about who will be the candidates
of cooperative committee. There are about 10 names that have capability to manage cooperative
in the future.
1.1.a.2. Regular discussion
This discussion is continually conducted along with group meetings. The materials of regular discussion
present resource persons from outside.
1.1.a.2.a Discussion about basic health
This discussion is held routinely along with the group meetings every week. In each meeting,
the discussed issues vary according to the social development in the surrounding area, but it still
relates to existing health issue. The raised issues become topic of discussion in the groups such
as:
- Dengue hemorrhagic fever
This topic comes up after the women in Prumpung tell about their neighbors that are infected
by dengue hemorrhagic fever. This discussion expands to the issue of community behavior such
as disposing their garbage anywhere and ignoring their sanitation. After that, the discussion is
related to government’s fogging program which is not preventive but it is done when the case
comes up. In this discussion, the women are urged to be critical about the phenomenon related
to government policy such as fogging program. The program often doesn’t bring good impact
to the environmental condition because the mosquitoes are not killed but they move and return
several days later. The number of members attended the discussion is about 75% of total group
members, while the other 25% do not attend because of doing their works at home or other business.
