BPplays a facilitating role and will not be in control of this forum.As part of its commitment to help empower the local communities, theproject is also establishing the so-called Heritage Fund (Dana Abadi),which will enable the community to finance development activities incertain areas affected by the project. The establishment of this Fund isan acknowledgement of the area’s rich natural and cultural heritage,and is aimed at supporting the vitality of the existing local customs.7. Community Based Enterprise10A farmer of Saengga village, Papua is harvesting watermelon. BP is sponsoring theso called Diversified Growth Strategy as part of its commitment to help local peoplereduce their dependence on the Project by sponsoring, among other thing, anagriculture diversification program.8. Pemukiman Kembali Kampung Tanah MerahSetelah diadakan konsultasi yang menyeluruh ditinjau dari aspeklingkungan, teknis, sosial dan ekonomi satu-satunya lokasi yangdianggap tepat untuk lokasi kilang LNG adalah wilayah di dekatpemukiman Kampung Tanah Merah. Masyarakat Tanah Merah, yangterdiri dari 127 rumah tangga, telah setuju untuk dipindahkan ke lokasiyang baru. Satu lokasi berjarak kira-kira 3 km dan yang lainnya berjarak12 km dari tempat tinggal mereka sebelumnya. Pemukiman kembaliKampung Tanah Merah dilakukan sebagai bagian dari programperencanaan bersama masyarakat, yang bertujuan untuk meyakinkanbahwa penduduk yang dipindahkan akan memperoleh tempat yangsama baiknya atau bahkan lebih baik dari yang semula mereka huni.Menejemen Tangguh telah bekerja sama dengan masyarakat setempatuntuk memilih lokasi baru yang tepat, membangun perumahan yanglayak, dan memulihkan kembali sistim kehidupan rumah tangga merekayang mandiri. Program pemukiman kembali ini dilaksanakan sesuaidengan standard yang ditetapkan oleh Bank Dunia, pemerintah dandunia internasional. Perencanaan pemukiman kembali ini juga melibatkansebuah tim Panel Pemukiman Kembali yang terdiri dari para ahli yangdiakui oleh dunia internasional.The objective of the Community-Based Enterprise is to create jobopportunities in informal-sectors that is aimed at preventing any kind ofdependence on the Tangguh Project. Under this program, training andcapacity building will be held to help empower local entrepreneurs togenerate sustainable markets for their products.8. Resettlement of Tanah Merah VillageAfter extensive evaluations using environmental, technical, social andeconomic criteria, the only site deemed feasible for the LNG plant isnear the community of Tanah Merah. The Community, which consistsof 127 households, has agreed to undertake resettlement, and it haschosen resettlement sites in two locations. One is located approximately3 km distant from the community’s present location, and the other is 12km distant. The resettlement of Tanah Merah is carried out as aparticipatory community development programme, with the overallobjective of ensuring that the residents are as well or better off thanbefore the move. Tangguh management has worked in collaborationwith the community to choose an appropriate new site, develop appropriatehousing, and re-establish independent family livelihoods and communitylife. The Resettlement programme is being developed to adhere to theWorld Bank, national, and international standards.
