Filmfestival del Garda

In the atypical winter scenery, when visiting lake Garda may appear less pleasant, the
Cineforum Feliciano with the support of the City Council of San Felice del Benaco organizes
the III Edition of the Filmfestival del Garda, scheduled from December the 4th to the 8th 2009.
Place/Beyond is the theme titling this edition which, just like meant by the organizers, implies
the “capability of mankind to create and envision worlds without physical and intellectual limits”.
In this perspective the Artistic Direction of the Filmfestival del Garda has carefully selected
titles on the market of main international film Festival, such as the Festival de Cannes, the
Mostra Internazionale del Cinema di Venezia, the Berlinale Internationale Filmfestspiele and
the Torino Film Festival, with the task of choosing “the works and authors deepening the most
into the peculiarities and shades of the Place/Beyond theme. With such challenging premises,
it is a pleasure to remark the quality and competence of the International jury, formed by its
President Gianni Rondolino, Full Professor of Cinema History and Criticism at the University of
Turin, founder of the Turin Film festival and Historian of Cinema; Alessandra Agosti, main character
in the film Il vento fa il suo giro; Enrico Danesi, Mayor of Rezzato, journalist and film critic;
Silvana Turzio, Professor and journalist and the Slovenian documentary film maker Nadja
Veluˇsček. Thus, this is a project giving fame and prestige to San Felice del Benaco, which is
aiming to transcend its own city limits, enhancing and developing the cultural heritage symbol
of the Gardesan territory that, thanks to its characteristics as well as to its historical and
artistic importance goes beyond “borders” and opens to the outer world, into broader spaces
and scenarios. Our wish is to keep on spreading and promoting art and culture as well as
quality cinema and to take the name of lake Garda and the cultural, historical and tourist
image of our territory in the international spotlight. We therefore wish all the young enthusiasts,
earnestly lead with talent by the Artistic Directors of the Filmfestival del Garda, Veronica
Maffizzoli and Umberto Soncina, to keep on focusing their energies and resources on relevant
and important events representing our superb territory.
