SINOSSI
Il film è il viaggio fisico e interiore lungo le storie che fanno da contraltare alla scrittura e alla lavorazione di
Da Solo, il più recente album di studio di Vinicio Capossela. Un brulicare di storie e di vita che affiorano sulla
faccia della terra come su quella dell’io narrante, deturpandone i lineamenti e intrecciandoli per sempre a
quelli dei suoi personaggi. Girato con una tecnica mista dal regista Gianfranco Firriolo, La faccia della terra
offre uno spaccato inedito sull’universo artistico di Vinicio Capossela, finendo per essere non più solo narrazione
cinematografica ma occhio indiscreto che immortala, quasi in prima persona, il processo creativo
nascosto dietro ogni storia, dentro ogni canzone. Il regista, trasformando quello che inizialmente doveva
essere un semplice backstage girato da un amico, amalgama il materiale grezzo alla fonte dell’album in questo
strambo “film racconto”, nell’audace intento di scardinare il classico genere del “dietro le quinte”.
SYNOPSIS
The film is a physical and intellectual voyage through the stories that are at the root of the creation of Da Solo
(By Myself, 2008), the most recent studio album by musician Vinicio Capossela. Stories full of life that emerge
both on the face of the Earth and on the face of narrator, disfiguring him and binding him forever with his
characters. Shot with mixed technique by Gianfranco Firriolo, La faccia della terra offers an unseen view of
Vinicio Capossela’s artistic universe, becoming not only a cinematic narration but also an indiscreet eye looking,
almost subjectively, at the creative process hidden behind each story, each song. The director, transforming
what was originally to be only a backstage shot by a friend, mixes the raw material, from which the musical
album takes form, in this peculiar “narrative film”, courageously reinventing the backstage genre.
