CHINASAT 9
With a launcher called Long March 3
B, CHINASAT 9 will start in March 2008
for operation at 134° East. The bird will
use 22 Ku-band transponders.
GALAXY 18
This satellite will start in March or April 2008
with a Zenit 3 rocket. It will provide 24 Ku- and
24 C-band transponders on 123° Ost (237°
West). It will replace GALAXY 10R, which
was launched in 2000 with a life expectancy
of 15 years. Due to high energy consumption
in August 2004, lifetime of GALAXY
10R has been reduced significantly.
New Satellites

VINASAT 1
This new bird called VINASAT 1 will use
12 Ku- and 8 C-band transponders at 132°
East. Launcher is Ariane 5 and launch
time in April/May 2008. The bird will be
in co-position to JCSAT 5A. This satellite
has a minimum service life of 15 years.
AMC 14
With a Russian Proton rocket AMC 14
will start in March or April 2008 into the
orbit. It will use 32 Ku-band transponders
on 298.5° East (61.5° West) and will
replace ECHOSTAR 3.
STAR ONE C2
This bird will start in end of March 2008 with an
Ariane 5 rocket into the orbit. The satellite will
replace BRASILSAT B4 on 290° East (70° Wset)
and has 16 Ku- and 28 C-Band transponders.
DIREC TV 11
With a launcher named Zenit 3, DIREC
TV 11 will start into the orbit in March
2008. It will provide 32 Ka-band transponders
on 261° East (99° West).
