CHINA<strong>SAT</strong> 9<br />

With a launcher called Long March 3<br />

B, CHINA<strong>SAT</strong> 9 will start in March 2008<br />

for operation at 134° East. The bird will<br />

use 22 Ku-band transponders.<br />

GALAXY 18<br />

This <strong>satellite</strong> will start in March or April 2008<br />

with a Zenit 3 rocket. It will provide 24 Ku- and<br />

24 C-band transponders on 123° Ost (237°<br />

West). It will replace GALAXY 10R, which<br />

was launched in 2000 with a life expectancy<br />

of 15 years. Due to high energy consumption<br />

in August 2004, lifetime of GALAXY<br />

10R has been reduced significantly.<br />

New Satellites<br />

VINA<strong>SAT</strong> 1<br />

This new bird called VINA<strong>SAT</strong> 1 will use<br />

12 Ku- and 8 C-band transponders at 132°<br />

East. Launcher is Ariane 5 and launch<br />

time in April/May 2008. The bird will be<br />

in co-position to JC<strong>SAT</strong> 5A. This <strong>satellite</strong><br />

has a minimum service life of 15 years.<br />

AMC 14<br />

With a Russian Proton rocket AMC 14<br />

will start in March or April 2008 into the<br />

orbit. It will use 32 Ku-band transponders<br />

on 298.5° East (61.5° West) and will<br />

replace ECHOSTAR 3.<br />

STAR ONE C2<br />

This bird will start in end of March 2008 with an<br />

Ariane 5 rocket into the orbit. The <strong>satellite</strong> will<br />

replace BRASIL<strong>SAT</strong> B4 on 290° East (70° Wset)<br />

and has 16 Ku- and 28 C-Band transponders.<br />

DIREC TV 11<br />

With a launcher named Zenit 3, DIREC<br />

TV 11 will start into the orbit in March<br />

2008. It will provide 32 Ka-band transponders<br />

on 261° East (99° West).
