MADE IN ITALY 

La passione che ci accompagna 

nel costruire telai da corsa è basata su 

un’ostinata ricerca della perfezione. Soltanto 

dopo una lunga e accurata lavorazione, può 

nascere una Formigli; non a caso la nostra 

produzione si limita a pochi esemplari l’anno. 

Questo a testimonianza che l’intento del 

nostro lavoro rispecchia in pieno il frutto 

della vecchia tradizione telaistica italiana. 

Avendo così la consapevolezza di aver 

forgiato un pezzo unico nel suo genere 

dotato del più grande pregio che un telaio 

da corsa possa avere: quello di evidenziare 

attraverso le proprie linee un’estrema 

semplicità. 

The passion that brought us to 

building racing bike frames is based on a 

tireless and strong research of perfection. 

Only after a long and carefull processing 

we can proudly say that a new Formigli 

bike is born. 

It is not by chance that our production is 

limited to a few samples per year. 

This is evidence that our work reflects the 

heritage of the Italian racing bike frames 

oldest tradition. 

Thus being aware of forging a unique item 

endowed with the greatest value a frame 

can have: showing an extreme semplicity 

through its lines.

La sigla RF identifica le iniziali 

di Renzo Formigli, questa sigla 

verrà affiancata da ora in avanti a 

tutti quei telai che avranno come 

caratteristica principale lo scopo di 

ottenere la massima espressione 

tecnologica e prestazionale. Il 

nome RF non sarà abbinato solo al 

modello ASIEL, ma probabilmente 

in futuro verrà affiancato anche 

ad altri modelli. Questo marchio 

rappresenterà all’interno della 

produzione Formigli, un segmento 

che identificherà alcuni telai dalle 

caratteristiche speciali. 

RF stands for Renzo Formigli. From 

now on this monogram will mark 

out all those frames especially 

created and designed to obtain the 

best results in terms of technology 

and performance. The RF monogram 

will distinguish not only the ASIEL 

model but probably it will be 

used also on others of the same 

kind. In the wider context of the 

Formigli production this particular 

monogram will be representative 

of a very particular kind of frames 

characterized by special features.

SPECIFICHE TECNICHE 

L’RF ASIEL è stato concepito per 

ottimizzare al meglio la rigidità 

torsionale, in quanto oltre ad 

utilizzare tubi con disegno 

mirato a ridurre le sollecitazioni 

di torsione, anche il progetto di 

realizzazione del telaio, ha seguito 

questo profilo ideologico, infatti, 

anche a prima vista guardando il 

posteriore del telaio, ci si accorge 

di un notevole abbassamento 

dei tubi posteriori verticali sul 

l’appoggio del tubo sella. 

Questa soluzione ha conferito 

al telaio una maggiore rigidità 

del carro posteriore, ottenendo 

così una reattività maggiore alla 

trazione della ruota. 

Questo beneficio si avverte in 

particolare nelle salite e negli 

scatti che si effettuano in corsa, 

come nelle volate, e in maniera più 

ancora più avvertibile quando si 

utilizzano i grandi rapporti.

The RF ASIEL model has been 

designed to optimize the torsional 

stiffness, since in addition to 

using especially designed tubes 

that reduces torsional stress, 

the project of the frame also 

has been conceived with special 

attention to this problem. This can 

be noted even observing the back 

of the frame where a considerable 

lowering of the vertical rear tubes 

on the base of the cycling column 

can be appreciated. This feature 

gives the seat stays of the frame 

a major rigidity, obtaining a 

greater reactivity to the wheel’s 

force of traction. This peculiar 

characteristic can be appreciated 

during hill climbs, accelerations, 

final sprints and most of all when 

dealing with great speeds.

fatto di tubazioni di carbonio alto

L’ASIEL viene costruito mediante 

l’utilizzo della fasciatura in assenza 

di ossigeno; questo sistema ci 

ha permesso di ottenere quello 

che fino ad oggi era considerata 

pura utopia: realizzare un telaio 

su misura in carbonio così come 

si costruiscono telai su misura in 

acciaio ed in alluminio. Il risultato 

è un effetto estetico simile ad un 

monoscocca, con una resistenza 

superiore agli altri sistemi di 

incollaggio. Grazie a queste qualità, 

l’ASIEL, si adatta perfettamente 

a qualsiasi persona, senza 

limitazioni di peso e di altezza. 

Inoltre può essere realizzato in 

qualsiasi misura, con inclinazioni e 

geometrie personalizzate, oppure, 

nel caso più specifico, utilizzando 

la scheda di un biomeccanico. 

L’utilizzo di un tessuto di carbonio 

di altissima qualità ha reso 

possibile ottenere la massima 

ottimizzazione torsionale, in 

quanto lo stesso design dei tubi 

è stato progettato per garantire un 

effetto più solido e meno flessibile 

sotto la spinta di pedalata, 

amplificando inoltre la resistenza 

del telaio. 

L’AsieL può essere realizzato in 2 varianti: 

1) come è riportato nella foto, mediante l’utilizzo di un reggisella in 

carbonio di forma aerodinamica; 

2) con reggisella integrato, mantenendo la forma aerodinamica.

ASIEL is built through the use 

of binding. We were able in fact 

in lack of oxygen to get what 

was considered till now a mere 

utopia: to realize a carbon custom 

frame in the same way as steel 

and aluminium custom frames are 

realized. The result is an aesthetical 

effect similar to a monocoque 

and a superior resistance 

to any other gluing method. 

Thanks to these and other 

qualities, ASIEL fits every person 

perfectly, without any restrictions 

of weight and height. 

ASIEL can be produced in any size, 

with traditional or customized 

inclinations and geometries, or it 

can also be realized by following the 

instructions given by a biomechanic 

or provided by the customer. 

The use through a carbon fabric 

of very high quality, achieved the 

best results concerning torsion, 

as the same frame design was 

planned to assure a more solid 

and less flexible effect under the 

thrust of the pedal, at the same 

time it expands the frame. 

The AsieL frame can be realized in 2 variants: 

1) one through the use of a carbon streamline seat-post as showed 

in the picture; 

2) one with integrated saddle-pillar, by keeping the streamlined shape. 

In the two variants the seat-post are supplied with the frame.

Con il modello GENESI siamo 

riusciti ad ottenere in chiave 

moderna, la massima espressione 

dell’artigianato Italiano: il telaio 

viene lavorato interamante a mano 

e realizzato su misura del cliente, 

questo mediante l’assemblaggio 

dei tubi con il sistema di fasciatura 

sottovuoto, sistema questo, che 

porta il GENESI ad una resistenza 

della struttura molto elevata. 

Inoltre abbiamo utilizzato le 

migliori fibre di carbonio reperibili 

sul mercato, per ottenere un 

telaio dalle caratteristiche 

tecniche superiori alla media, 

cercando di ottimizzare al 

meglio le sollecitazioni espresse 

dall’atleta; tanto è che il GENESI 

nasce sull’esperienza delle corse, 

questo per dare non solo un 

piacevole aspetto estetico, ma 

cercando di proporre un elevato 

target tecnico, che in questi anni 

rappresenta l’obbiettivo principale 

dell’officina Formigli.

With the GENESI model we were 

able to achieve in a modern key 

the extreme expression of the 

Italian handicraft. The frame is 

entirely hand-made and produced 

to measure of the customer 

through assembling of the 

tubes by the method of vacuum 

dressing. Thanks to this method 

the GENESI model shows a very 

high resistance of the structure. 

Moreover we used the best carbon 

fibres to be found on the market, in 

order to get a frame with technical 

characteristics above the average, 

trying to optimize at best the 

stress of the athlete. And indeed 

the GENESI model was born from 

the experience of races, so that it 

has not only a pleasant aesthetical 

aspect, but it also offers a high 

technical target, that in these 

years represents the main object 

of the Formigli workshop.

L’idea di costruire un telaio che 

avesse le qualità tecniche e 

strutturali per essere utilizzato 

nel settore agonistico, avvalendosi 

dei migliori sistemi di tecnologia 

moderna, ci ha portati a realizzare 

la FGR. Abbiamo ottenuto una 

struttura realizzata su misura 

del cliente, con caratteristiche 

meccaniche di elevata efficienza, 

tutto questo abbinato ad un design 

dalle linee classiche, prendendo 

spunto dal passato, come l’utilizzo 

dei tubi di forma tonda e come 

la scelta di realizzare i posteriori 

verticali rifacendosi al sistema 

tradizionale in versione b stay. 

Tutto questo a portato l’FGR 

ad avere un impatto visivo 

completamente differente 

dalla media dei telai di ultima 

generazione. Avere affiancato 

passato e presente, ha fatto 

dell’FGR un telaio paradossalmente 

avveniristico.

RAGUEL è l’ unico nostro telaio 

in monoscocca realizzato in 5 

taglie. Rispettando uno standard 

qualitativo molto elevato, siamo 

riusciti ad ottenere un telaio con 

caratteristiche professionali, 

mantenendo un costo decisamente 

inferiore rispetto agli altri modelli 

presenti nella nostra gamma 

in carbonio, merito questo del 

sistema costruttivo in monoscocca, 

procedimento più semplice e 

di conseguenza meno costoso

D7.9 un nome, un telaio. 

Da questa sigla nasce quello che si può 

definire, senza mezzi termini, il telaio 

più leggero al mondo. Forse, in un 

panorama come quello della bicicletta, 

dove esiste una ricerca continua 

nel proporre materiali sempre più 

innovativi o pseudo innovativi, il 

D7.9 rappresenta la vera novità 

in fatto di leggerezza, resistenza e 

caratteristiche meccaniche. 

Questo materiale ha sorpreso per 

la resistenza che fino ad oggi ha 

dimostrato, in quanto nonostante 

si riesca a realizzare un telaio di 

peso di poco inferiore agli 800 

grammi, il risultato dopo un anno 

di utilizzo nel campo agonistico è 

stato sorprendente. 

Possiamo affermare, oggi, che 

il D7.9 rappresenta un binomio 

perfetto tra rigidità torsionale e 

confort di guida, consapevoli però, di 

avere una struttura estremamente 

leggera, non riscontrabile in altri 

materiali.

This is what can be defined the 

lightest frame in the world. Maybe, 

in the outline of bicycles, where 

there is a continuous search of 

more and more innovating or pseudo 

innovating materials, the D7.9 

represents the real innovation as 

regards lightness, resistance and 

mechanical characteristics. 

This material has surprised for the 

resistance that it showed till now, 

as, although it is possible to realize 

a frame of a weight lower than 800 

grams, the result after an year of 

use in the agonistic field has been 

surprising. Today we can declare 

that the D7.9 represents a perfect 

binomial between torsional stiffness 

and drive comfort. 

But we are aware to have an 

extremely light structure, that 

cannot be found in other materials.

Per anni è stato il telaio utilizzato da 

molte squadre ciclistiche, concepito 

per andare “in prima linea”, in sintesi 

nato per correre. 

Negli anni è stato il telaio, di nostra 

produzione, che ha riscosso i maggiori 

successi nelle competizioni: è in 

merito a queste vittorie, che l’URIEL 

ha fatto conoscere agli appassionati 

di questo sport, il marchio Formigli. 

Credendo fermamente nelle qualità 

dell’alluminio, abbiamo alzato il 

livello qualitativo di questo modello, 

utilizzando l’alluminio 7003-T6, con 

carichi di rottura prossimi ai 470 

N/mm2 e una durezza superficiale 

di 135 HV. 

Questa nuova tubazione ci ha 

consentito un maggior grado di 

rigidità torsionale, ponendo così 

l’URIEL ai vertici nel segmento dei 

telai in alluminio. 

Il telaio lo produciamo in due versioni: 

quella di serie completamente in 

alluminio, e l’altra, in via opzionale, 

con carro posteriore tutto carbonio. 

Inoltre sempre in via opzionale è 

possibile realizzarlo con reggisella 

integrato.

For years it was the frame used by 

many cycling teams, designed to 

go “on the front line”, in short born 

to run. 

Over the years it was the frame 

of our production which has been 

more successful in competitions and 

thanks to this success the URIEL has 

made known to fans of this sport, 

the mark Formigli. 

Believing strongly in the quality 

of aluminium we have raised the 

quality level of this model, using the 

aluminium 7003-T6 with ultimate 

tensile strengths close to 470 N/ 

mm2 and a surface hardness of 135 

HV. This new tubing has allowed 

us a greater degree of torsional 

rigidity placing so the URIEL in 

the top segment of the aluminium 

frames. We produce the frame in two 

versions: one series version entirely 

in aluminium and the other optional 

with entirely carbon rear cart. 

It is also possibile to produce it in 

an optional version with integrated 

seat post.

Se dovessimo identificarlo con 

un nome ancora più appropriato, 

dovremo definirlo come “Il Telaio”, 

perché per quasi un secolo di storia 

ha rappresentato la bicicletta da 

corsa nella sua forma più classica. 

I grandi eroi di questo sport 

hanno gareggiato fino ai tempi 

recenti, con un telaio in acciaio 

a congiunzioni e ancora oggi, 

nonostante l’avvento di nuovi 

materiali e nuove metodologie 

costruttive, l’acciaio nella versione 

più classica avrebbe ancora molto 

da raccontare.

If we had to identify it with a name 

even more proper, we must define 

it as “The Frame”, as for more than 

half a century of history it has 

symbolized the race-bicycle in its 

most classical form. 

The big heros of this sport have 

competed till recent times, with 

steel frame with microfusion lugs 

and still today, in spite of the coming 

of new materials and new building 

methodologies, the steel in the most 

classical version would still have 

much to tell. 

But this can not be said...

Il progetto FR-07 è nato con 

l’intento di proporre sul mercato 

dei telai da cronometro. Una 

versione particolarmente tecnica 

per la massima resa aerodinamica 

ed efficienza di trazione, particolari 

questi, che sono alla base delle corse 

contro il tempo. 

Possiamo definire la FR-07 non 

una bicicletta tradizionale con 

forma aerodinamica, ma una vera 

e propria macchina da corsa, con 

tutti i requisiti che questo tipo 

di telaio deve avere, a cominciare 

dalla qualità del carbonio utilizzato, 

concepito per ottenere la massima 

rigidità di trazione, abbinata ad un 

concetto geometrico, che agevola il 

corridore ad assumere una posizione

The project FR-07 was born with 

the intent to propose on the market 

some chronometer frames. A 

particularly technical version for the 

maximum aerodynamic output and 

efficiency of traction, particulars 

which are the basis of races against 

time. 

We can define the FR-07 not a 

traditional bicycle with aerodynamic 

shape, but a real racing car, with all 

the requirements that this kind of 

frame must have, starting with the 

quality of carbon used, conceived 

for maximum rigidity of traction, 

combined with a geometric concept 

that facilitates the runner to take a 

particularly aerodynamic position.
