Summary<br />
New type and conventional type forest roads were adjacently constructed in steep<br />
slope more than 35 degree and the road surface hardness was measured for three<br />
times during 14 months. The new type forest road was constructed by the topsoil<br />
sandwich method, of which process was composed of deep digging of road soil and<br />
sequential paving the base rock and the topsoil like a sandwich. The soil hardness<br />
was higher in the new type forest road than the conventional type forest road in each<br />
measurement time. The cost of construction was about 1000 yen/minbothmethods.<br />
