6th BIG OM – BIG GAME FISHING COMPETITION<br />
Having successfully organized the fifth consecutive BIG<br />
OM competition - CUP OMIŠALJ in big game fishing, as<br />
well as parallel MIDDLE GAME competition named<br />
PALAMIJADA, from September 2-4, 2011 quite rightly we<br />
expect over one hundred competitors in Omišalj from<br />
Croatia and abroad with forty boats and lots of adrenaline,<br />
entertainment and culinary delights.<br />
For two days (September 3-4, 2011), teams will participate<br />
in big game fishing in the area of Kvarner Bay, Kvarner and<br />
Kvarnerić (tuna, swordfish, shark, thrasher shark). At the<br />
end of the second day of the competition the total catch will<br />
add up and winners will be awarded the prize amount of 20<br />

and 5 thousand HRK (3 place).<br />
Along with the BIG OM, a parallel competition in middle<br />
game fishing called PALAMIJADA will take place also in<br />
2011. Catch of bonito, greater amberjack, Mediterranean<br />
spearfish, swordfish, smaller tuna, gilt-head (sea) bream,<br />
sea bass and dentex will be scored. The best will be awarded<br />

BIG OM was initiated five years ago before for the purpose<br />
of popularizing big game fishing and enrichment of the<br />
tourist offer of the Municipality of Omišalj. Year after year,<br />
the event is further enriched with new contents and BIG OM<br />
sports entertainment event is attracting more and more<br />
tourists from all over the island and beyond. In the past four<br />
years, 45 teams from Slovenia, Germany, Italy and Croatian<br />
took part at BIG OM competition.<br />
The organizer of this competition is a Sports fishing club<br />
Zubatac from Omišalj, and event sponsors are Primorje-<br />
Gorski Kotar County, Municipality of Omišalj, Kvarner<br />
County Tourist Office, The Island of Krk Tourist Board,<br />
Tourist Board of the Municipality Omišalj.<br />
