History and future
Giuseppe Pisati, Founder of Relco
Relco establishment from 1990 to 2000 Via La Spezia, 10 Milan
Intelligent, passionate, generous and curious, with a desire for innovation - this
sums up “Mr. Dino”, as he was called by everyone. A true gentleman, who was
led by his passion for work and founded Relco in 1967.
Giuseppe Pisati, with the help and support of this wife Ernestina Donizetti, started
off in the world of electrical engineering in lighting applications, in a small
workshop in viale Lombardia, Milan, where together with a few collaborators
the first dimmers were assembled.
Thanks to the invaluable advice of friends, manufacturers and distributors of
electrical equipment, a few years later he expanded the range of dimmers by
introducing new models for the first halogen lamps of the domestic ranges:
Biticino, Vimar, Ave and Gewiss.
He, however, had an ambitious project in mind: to be able to change the intensity
of the light in incandescent lamps. This led to the first lampshade dimmer
being created in 1975; model RT32 to be placed on the armrest of a chair or on
a table; model RT30 switch for floor lamps; and model RT 27 for mirrors. But also
variators that vary the extraction speed of vacuum cleaners - the challenge being
aimed at fan industry (Vortice), drum vacuum cleaners, (the renowned Alfatec)
RM29 and RTQ 29RC items.
Even though the projects were very efficient, they had to be refined. Meanwhile,
Giuliano go to work and gain experience in the company called LUCI in Cinisello,
Milan, where he learnt much directly from the owner, Renato Mammani, during
the “lunch break” and all this helped him in his future as an entrepreneur. Shortly
after, he refined the technique applied and introduced the “design”.
In 1980, he entrusted a new dimmer project to Mr. Ezio Didone (Architect), who
created the RT80 and RT81 model - the first dimmer for halogen lamps, a highly
technological product for these innovative light sources and even though it was
an excellent product, it struggled to find its way into the market at first.
It was then an instant success and after only 6 months, production soared from
5000 to 50000 items, so much so that contractors had to be outsourced in order
to keep up with the continuous demand.
Other prestigious firms then entered the scene: Castiglioni designs TOUCH, a
particularly sophisticated item that was extensively used by Flos before being
taken on by Artemide, Oluce, Martini, Luceplan, Fontana Arte and other prominent
companies.

These items were so innovative and successful at the time that we still find them
in the Company’s catalogues forty years later and complement many lamps of
well-known brands.
Giuseppe Pisati founded Relco in 1967, which has now become RELCO
GROUP, and today, his son Angelo Giuliano Pisati is Chairman.
The entrepreneurial ability is noted in the ambitious project aimed at transforming
a small structure into a successful enterprise.
Thanks to his determination and the help of his collaborators, the brand took
on global significance in the lighting technology, adjustment and controls
sector.
The intelligence that lies behind the managerial skills is conveyed in the ability
of envisioning development strategies with such foresight that anticipates
the market dynamics.
These values distinguish the work implemented by Giuliano Pisati, who today
is Chairman of the Relco Group and the worthy heir of the career he undertook.
Relco Group can be defined as the Italian light company, thanks to the synergies
of Relco, Leuci, Vlm, Leonardo and Segno.

Electronics Light Design
In 2000, the L.C. Relco Group inaugurated the new 15,000 sqm Buccinasco
premises, home to the research and design headquarters, sales offices and
logistics department.
The high engineering and design capacity, modern factories and accurate
quality control guarantee product reliability.
Today the Relco Group is renown throughout Italy thanks to a capillary and
extended sales network that allows the company to operate in 40 countries
spread in 5 continents, present in the largest distributors of electrical material
and OEMs.
In 2004, Leonardo Luce Italia joined the group, with lamps and lighting
fixtures. Founded in 2003, Leonardo Luce Italia offers easy installation and
excellent quality systems with rapid delivery times.
In 2006, Leuci, a historical manufacturing company of light sources, was
purchased and merged with the range of electronic ballasts offered by Relco,
Leonardo and Segno. Today the Company stands out amongst the most
important companies in the sector for its innovation and variety, in particular
in the LED lighting and energy saving fields.
Today it offers both indoor and outdoor lighting fixtures and has established
itself worldwide for product reliability and quality.
In 2006, in order to complete the Leonardo luce Italia range and with the
intention of entering the products in the large scale retail-trade, the Company
purchased Stilplast - a company that produces and distributes indoor
and outdoor globes, free-standing, wall and ceiling lights, which had been in
the large scale retail trade for quite some time.
During the same year, RELCO SUD manufacturing company of MADE IN
ITALY emergency lights. In fact, the company’s factories produce electronics
with SMD assembly lines as well as moulding of the relative plastic material.
Segno was purchased in 2007, thereby indicating the desire to complete the
team with the integration of the missing component: the design
Relco Group has acquired VLM, thereby becoming a strategic partner of
primary importance that continuously grows.
Relco Group and VLM combine their energies with all the advantages that
a mutual exchange of knowledge and technical and sales know how offers
together with the possibility of making good use of all the synergies that two
highly complementary companies can obtain through their collaboration
Relco Group continues to expand and acquires Elios in 2009, becoming
ever more the market leader in the lighting sector. Elios, a historical company
that manufactures junction boxes and covers for household and similar
purposes, components for SAT TV telephone systems, luminous decorations
and electrical components, has now become part of the Relco Group. This
purchase represents the spirit of continuous growth of the Relco Group,
committed to reinforce its presence in the market with an ever-increasing

product range of illuminating engineering and electronics.
Relco Group is the only Italian Group that can supply all lighting products,
from the ballast to the switch, free-standing to table lamps, gangs with
switches and sockets, bulbs and the complete product. Relco does not only
assemble components but designs, manufactures and distributes its products

The Relco Group product offering extends to all lighting sectors and all

The 2008 turnover of the Relco Italia wholesale electrical material is over 30

The organisation and production
The Buccinasco premises consists of the research and design headquarters,
the sales offices and logistics department and covers over 30,000 sqm.
The Group, with a 90 million turnover, has 1000 employees, 200 million
units produced, 5 factories and 50 technicians specialised in quality control
and research.
Relco Group is a well-established Italian company present on the market
with a comprehensive product offering that ranges from electronic components,
HID and low voltage ballasts, fluorescent lamps and LEDs, transformers,
emergency systems, light control systems, household and similar
systems to finished lighting fixtures, industrial, public lighting and design
products.
Relco Group does not limit itself to assembling the product but designs and
manufactures the components within its establishments.
In 2005, the Group expanded and opened branches in Germany, France,
England, Spain, Denmark and India and factories in Italy, Tunisia and China
and is commercially present in 74 Countries.

Leuci guarantees reliability of each product, its compliance with
technical requisites and minimised waste, thereby improving
performance.
The new high speed production units (up to 5000 bulbs/hour),
designed by Leuci and built in collaboration with an important
European Company using particular equipment, allow the electrical
features to be verified before the end of line packaging
process together with the internal purity of the bulb, thereby
guaranteeing its functionality and durability.
The company received CSQ Certification in 1992, in compliance
with UNI EN ISO 9002, which has been updated with UNI EN
ISO 9001:2000, obtained in 2003.
Founded in Lecco in 1919, Leuci is specialised in the production
and marketing of incandescent, halogen, energy saving and
fluorescent bulbs.
Today, the company represents a global supplier of lighting fixtures
as it introduces energy saving bulbs integrated in the Gemini
PREMIUM and Gemini SAVING and the innovative Life energy
LED range, which replaces the traditional incandescent bulbs.
LED technology also used in the new lighting systems for public
and industrial use, outdoor and urban areas, distinguished by
remarkable innovative quality.
Leuci has always paid attention to market evolution whilst keeping
a particular eye on energy saving and planet protection.

Over the last few years, the planet “Gaia” has shown signs that pollution
is not tolerated well and the increasing anomalies in the climate prove this;
consequently causing the world to become more aware and careful when
using energy and safeguarding the ecosystem.
Leuci certainly does not look on without acting and launched the Life Energy
range in 2010. New light sources with low environmental impact; integrated
energy saving fluorescent lamps, low power consumption LED halogen lamps;
possibility of being adjusted; connect directly to the mains; and can be
replaced with an incandescent or fluorescent bulb with an E14, E27 or GU10
fitting, totally free of electromagnetic radiation, thereby obtaining an energy
saving product:

fino al 75% della produzione inizia la creazione di filiali

Il 21° secolo il mondo è rivolto al risparmio e nergetico e ad
una consapevolezza della fragilità del sistema e con i LED e sistemi
RGB l’avventura continua.
VLM già negli anni 70 aveva iniziato alcune forme di collaborazione
con Relco S.p.A. e alla fine del 2008 è entrata a far parte
a pieno titolo del Gruppo Relco.
VLM ha sempre rivestito il ruolo di leader nel mondo della componentistica
elettrotecnica ed elettronica per l’illuminazione.
Nasce nel Settembre del 1945, in un’Italia distrutta ma desiderosa
di riscatto e sviluppo e la sua storia è scandita una serie di
avvenimenti chiave.
Anni ’40 l’inizio e il primo prodotto, l’interruttore a pulsante

La strada da seguire è quella tratteggiata insieme al cliente, interlocutore
e partner della progettazione stessa.
L’ampia collezione, caratterizzata dall’attenzione ai materiali, ai
colori e all’uso a cui la lampada è destinata, interpreta il vivere
quotidiano, regala sensazioni vere.
Ogni lampada è una sfida, esprime idee che si materializzano
nell’oggetto di design, “invenzione” di forme nuove che miscelano
funzionalità ed estetica.
Segno non trascura la sicurezza e l’affidabilità, sia nel contract
sia nell’illuminazione degli ambienti domestici e di lavoro, resi
più piacevoli da un uso appropriato della luce.
Sin dalla sua nascita, avvenuta nel 1983, Segno inizia il percorso
verso la progettazione e la costruzione di lampade di ricerca
estetica e funzionale.
Per Segno far luce è questione di stile, perché la luce è fonte di
vita e influisce sul nostro stato d’animo.
Illuminare è trasmettere emozioni in sintonia con il vivere moderno
in casa, in ufficio e negli spazi commerciali.
La collaborazione con giovani designer di talento è libera creatività

Quanto costa?
Sulla base del risparmio effettivo prodotto dalla
sostituzione degli impianti, senza alcun costo
aggiuntivo, viene calcolato il canone di noleggio,
comprensivo di manutenzione per gli anni
di payback.
Al termine del periodo di locazione l’impianto
viene ceduto a costo zero.

Il progetto prevede l’installazione di 350 corpi illuminanti a
luce led RGB sul fondo del naviglio pavese per una larghezza
di 7 metri e una lunghezza di 100 metri, controllato da un sistema
DMX che crea diversi effetti di luce e cambio colore.
