Extrusion
How would you describe the company’s
growth in recent years?
SapaispresentinItalywithtwoplantswhichhavebeen
there for over 50 years: both have different histories and
developments which led them to change their name and
look several times. This led to a richness and differentiation
which were very useful for us during the years, without forgetting
the hefty investments to revamp the plants and to
keep them always updated. In Ornago, for instance, we recently
restructured the lab quality center, after the arrival
of the quenching box, an air- and water-controlled cooling
system with increased thermal gradient to obtain better
mechanical properties. Finally, the re-lamping activity and
the new billet pre-heating oven – which ensure a lower energy
consumption – confer this plant great value in terms
of efficiency and potential. In Feltre on the other hand we
concentrated on investments to add value to mechanical
machining, such as, a numeric control work centre, an automatic
cutter and the new Stacker on the extrusion line
to guarantee excellent surface quality. The foundry was
also involved, with the purchase of the magnetic stirrer for
the foundry furnace.
Which sectors are the most significant
right now for Sapa?
Automotive and transportation are certainly the driving
sectors for Sapa, followed by domestic&office equipment
