Agnes Eva Savich was born in Krakow, Poland, grew up in Chicago, and
now lives in Austin, TX, with her husband, two kids, & four cats. She
manages events at the University of Texas at Austin and plays oboe in
orchestra. She has studied photography at the Speos Institute in Paris,
France, where her final project featured a chance double exposure technique
(where a roll of film is taken, rewound, and then randomly double exposed
with no planning of which shots will align with which, thus creating
unexpected dreamscapes.) She has been writing poetry since she was 12, and
discovered haiku 14 years ago. Her haiku are published in many modern
haiku journals and have been translated into 5 languages. She has an early
collection of poetry, The Watcher: Poems (Cedar Leaf Press, 2009) and is
working on her first haiku collection.
Chase Gagnon, co-editor of Scryptic Magazine, resides in Detroit, Michigan
with his fiance. He had the honor of winning first prize in the inaugural Jane
Reichhold Memorial Haiga Competition in 2016 with his piece "empty
pockets". His poetry and photography have been widely published in
multiple venues including Frogpond, Modern Haiku, The Heron's Nest, and
many more. His chapbook of urban haiku titled "No Regrets" which was
largely inspired by the inner city of Detroit, received many positive reviews
in journals all across the globe including Blithe Spirit, the journal of The
British Haiku Society, in which David J Kelly states "Gagnon appears to be
taking haiku in a new and exciting direction."
