REASURES Five special treasures in the Salzkammergut and Salzburg City reveal new perspectives and promise valuable experiences around nature, culture and cuisine. Back in imperial times, the SchafbergBahn funicular was already huffing and puffing up the steep mountain meadows towards the summit, while passengers on the WolfgangseeSchifffahrt ferries watched it from aboard ship. To this day, passengers never fail to be exhilarated by the experience, even though these remnants of the past have long since become powered by modern technology. The same goes for our other treasures in the city of Mozart, Salzburg: the MönchsbergAufzug lift and the FestungBahn funicular in the heart of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Both went into operation in the 19th century, now carrying you in a matter of seconds onto the Mönchsberg where Hohensalzburg Fortress and the "Museum der Moderne" await. This forested city mountain is a true natural jewel with woodlands and meadows, secret paths and stone stairways, ruins and discrete stately homes. The interactive exhibition at the WasserSpiegel museum on the Mönchsberg is dedicated to yet another treasure of Salzburg AG Tourismus GmbH, namely the city’s drinking water.
