Display Mount Pro, based in Ningbo and specialising in LCD and plasma wall mounts, has grown from a start-up with a turnover of US0,000 to breach the US,000,000 mark in just two years. The company’s philosophy is to service its customer requirements as quickly and cheaply as possible – an approach that is delivering a steady stream of A record 105 Taiwan ICT companies are present at IFA this year, 102 of which are housed in their own dedicated 3,300 m 2 Taiwan Image Hall. Sponsored by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (Taitra), the hall showcases the technical excellence that has taken Taiwan in the past 30 years from a predominantly componentfocused nation to become an innovative product developer and leading manufacturer. Taiwanese companies make almost 90% of the world’s notebook computers and hold important market shares in several other key ICT markets, such as desktop computers, PC motherboards and LCD screens. new customers to its door. Mounts come with VESA standard-TV attachment, as well as the Random system, which is able to deal with any TV that does not adhere to the VESA placement requirements. The company currently offers 80 styles of wall mounts, ceiling mounts and universal projector mounts. “This year is the first time that Taitra has promoted a collective image of Taiwan ITC companies at IFA," said Wayne W. Wu, Taitra's Deputy Chairman. "Our pavilion includes major brands such as Asustek Computer, Chi Mei Opto-electronics, Delta Electronics, MSI Technology and Thermaltake Technology.” Asustek is already a global brand leader, being one the world’s largest manufacturers of motherboards for personal computers. The company is now diversifying into the mobile-phone and laptop markets. Its new notebook series comes in a range of interesting casings, including leather. It is also set to launch an innovative bamboo notebook this autumn. Headquartered in Huangshan City, with offices Ningbo City, the personal-care specialist China Watts manufactures a range of grooming products for both personal and professional use. The company’s hair straighteners make use of a variety of heaters, including jade, ceramic and MCH, and are also available with an ionic function. Ceramic tongs are available with or without a temperature adjuster, while hairdryers for professionals include the HD-07B model, which uses Tourmaline, a form of infra-red heat-generation technology. TAIWAN MAKES A STAND By Mark Dezzani “It is designed for the European market, where we generate more than 50% of our sales,” said Haris Musemic, Asustek's Product Manager. Taiwan’s role in the ICT industry is certain to expand as more local companies increase their involvement in design and branding. Benefiting from its background in component manufacturing, Taiwan’s manufacturers of TVs and mobile phones have nearly 10 LCD makers on the island, including Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO), which is a global market leader for widescreen and is now pioneering thin flat-screen TVs. “The future is ultra-slim,” said James Yang, CMO's Senior General Manager. China Watts also manufacturers an extensive range of professional hair trimmers, including the HT-703, which is equipped with a nose trimmer as well as a hair shaver and clippers. The HT- 701 and HT-702 models feature a titanium fixed blade and ceramic moving blade. The company also manufactures gift sets for individuals and professional. The range highlights include the HWGA-12 and HWGA-13, which come in lockable aluminium cases. With a monthly output of 1.5 million pieces, the notebook PC and USB Flashdrive manufacturer Apvell offers a range of 12 laptops. Marketing under the Benton brand, these feature LCD screens ranging in size from 7- to 12.1-inches. Apvell’s Flash USB drives come blue, red and brushed-aluminium and a variety of leather carrying cases in brown and black. The devices range in capacity from 32 Mb up to 4 Gb. Statement from Jens Heithecker, Director of IFA The law is the law and it must be applied, this is fully understandable. As the world’s biggest CE exhibition and centre-stage, IFA may be seen as the appropriate place to set an example, however, we feel that some innocent exhibitors have unfortunately been affected without reason. The issue here is initially suspicion that still has to be proven. This incident is, of course, very unfortunate for those who are innocent. Their success at the show is significantly hampered and most probably their image as well. We regret the way the operation was carried out and believe it would have been possible to perform it with a much more a sensitive approach.
