New Elevator DécorThe Finishing Trades Institute International Training Center in Hanover, Maryland, recently received a new interior designcourtesy of our members from District Council 16 of Northern California. While visiting the facility for the CPWR Combination Trainthe-Trainercourse, brothers Alex Beltran, Val Chestohin, David Marshall and Robert Ringer installed the <strong>FTI</strong> logo on the floor ofthe lobby elevator. When tasked with this project, our union brothers were determined to complete this addition with the utmostprofessional quality craftsmanship for which the <strong>IUPAT</strong> is known. The final design exceeded our expectations and we are beyondecstatic about this latest addition to our facility.Our thanks toDistrict Council16 brothersAlex Beltran (notpictured), ValChestohin, DavidMarshall andRobert Ringerfor the stylishnew look in the<strong>FTI</strong> InternationalTraining Centerelevator.National Labor College/Mountwest Community and Technical CollegeOne of the <strong>FTI</strong>’s core values isthe importance of educationand lifelong learning. The <strong>FTI</strong>believes classroom experience is ofequal importance to experience on thejob site. Therefore, the <strong>FTI</strong> encouragesour members to continue their educationthrough the National Labor College(NLC) and Mountwest Community andTechnical College (MCTC).Through their partnership withthe <strong>FTI</strong>, the NLC and MCTC have aplethora of academic opportunities for<strong>IUPAT</strong> members to pursue.For those members who may nothave any previous college experience,Mountwest Community andTechnical College is a great institutionto start the path to higherlearning. Established over 40 yearsago, MCTC has helped studentsstart careers, advance in establishedcareers and broaden their scopeof knowledge.
