Montpellier air traffic controller strike delaying flights
A general strike has been announced in France, commencing on the 15 th September 2010 and
lasting until 23:59 on the 23 rd September. French Air Traffic Control will be taking part in this
strike action. This has caused delays in Lyon from up to 4 hours (the DUBBLE project leader was
caught in this one).

The four main railway labor unions (CGT, Unsa, Sud-Rail and CFDT-Fgaac) decided to go on
unlimited strike starting on the 12th October, to protest against the pension reform supported by the
government. The CGT-railway hopes that the movement, which will affect other areas, from
maritime and air transport to truck drivers, through gas and electricity, would spread.
Strike will disrupt flights over French airspace, Ryanair and EasyJet offering free booking changes
or refunds.
“The French national general strike which will affect flights over the country's airspace will
definitely go ahead on Tuesday 12 October and is likely to cause high levels of disruption to
passengers flying to and from France.”
EasyJet is working closely with the French Government to try to minimise the impact to its
customers although like its competitor Ryanair it will have to cancel a number of flights and both
operators have been advised that there is a high risk of additional disruption during the day.
Passengers travelling with other airlines should check before leaving for the airport.

De politie in Frankrijk heeft enkele olieraffinaderijen ontruimd die al dagen worden bezet door
actievoerders. Volgens de vakbonden ligt het werk op alle twaalf oliedepots stil.
Er wordt voor de vierde dag op rij gestaakt tegen de plannen van de regering om de pensioenleeftijd
te verhogen van 60 naar 62. Het Franse parlement heeft de pensioenwet al aangenomen, maar toch
worden de protesten groter en grimmiger.
