2012-C-1. Anchors TORPEDOANKERE FOR FLYTENDE PLATTFORMER/INSTALLASJONER
Torpedo anchors may be used as a simple and effective solution for mooring floating
structures offshore. The method has been applied successfully for several projects
offshore Brazil and is now being developed for other locations, such as the Gulf of
Mexico and the North Sea. Such anchors are relatively new to the market and there
are a number of technical challenges being researched worldwide. The deployment
and operation of torpedo anchors offshore include the following phases:
NGI
• Release of anchor – hydrodynamic response in the water column, eventually
to terminal velocity
• Penetration in seabed – retardation until final tip level reached
• ‘Set-up’ (thixotropy and reconsolidation) of soil around anchor – based on
boundary conditions from the penetration stage
• Loading of anchor – holding capacity developed from different type of
structures
The MSc thesis may incorporate one or more of the phases listed above with a
combination of literature review, back analysis of available data and numerical
modeling (e.g. PLAXIS, ABAQUS). The thesis will provide the student with a good
introduction to offshore geotechnics with relevance to current R&D in the industry.
vannstrøm m.m. under installasjonen.
NGI
Prosjekt/Hoved-oppgave: Måledata kan gi grunnlag for videre utvikling av beregning
for sugeankere.
