General informationOur surrounds are all made of non-combustiblematerials. All our inserts/stoves are testedaccording to the latest European requirementsand also to the Norwegian SINTEF standard, whichincludes particle tests. Several European countrieshowever have individual rules for installation ofinserts, stoves and fireplaces. You as a client aretotally responsible for the fulfilling of these localrules concerning the installation in your region/country. Nordpeis (Northstar) is not responsibleregarding correct installation. You should check local regulations concerning:• distance from firebox to combustible/flammablematerials• insulation materials/requirements betweenfireplace surround and back wall• size of floor plates in front of fireplace/stove ifrequired• fluepipe connection between firebox and chimney• insulation requirements if fluepipe goes throughflammable wall such as a wood wall.AdjustmentWe recommend to stack the surround without glue inorder to adjust the insert prior to perforating the chimneyfor the flue connection. Use a spirit level to ensure thatthe surround is mounted straight. The insert will expandwith heat and for this reason the surround must not reston the insert. (Above the insert there must be a gapof 3 to 5 mm. Laterally there is no need for gaps, butbetween the lower part of the insert and the surroundthere must be a gap of at least 2 mm.)Floor plateA fireproof floor plate must be put in front of the fireplaceif the floor is of a combustible material.Powder glue for fillingThis is used to repair any notches or wounds in theconcrete. Mix the provided powder glue with water(the consistency of the glue should be that of toothpaste). Before you start, use a damp sponge to wet theconcrete surface. This will remove dust and provide forbetter adhesion. Fill in any uneven surfaces.Marble/graniteClean the plates with mild soapy water and remove anyresidue of spilled glue.Never use acid/abrasive materials, as this will damagethe surface and polishing. It is important to use detergent/sealant that is approvedfor marble for cleaning and sealing.Scratches in dark marble can be coloured with a pencil.A professional stone centre can help you with differentproducts for surface treatment of the stone.Fine FissuresSettlement cracks can appear during the first year ofnew built houses. For this reason, very thin fissurescould appear in the joints between the elements, thefirewall and the chimney. This is entirely normal andno reason for concern. These small fissures can beremoved by renewing the joint. Scrape out the joint witha joint scraper and then vacuum clean to remove all thedirt. Inject acrylic into the joint and even out by usingthe fingertip with some soapy water. After about 24hours the joint can be repainted.Smaller damagesThese are successfully repaired with the providedpowder glue. If the damage is deep, we recommendfilling twice in order to avoid sinking. Fill smaller cracksand uneven surfaces with a float or a brush. Smoothenthe surface with a damp sponge or sand paper. For your own safety, comply with the assemblyinstructions. All safety distances are minimum distances.Installation of the insert must comply with the rules andregulations of the country where installed. Nordpeis ASis not responsible for wrongly assembled inserts. We accept no liability for typographical errors andchanges.NB! See separate instructions for the insertAcrylic glueThis is used for gluing the elements towards wall, gluingthe elements together and for filling joints.PaintingThe surround can be painted 24hrs after that it hasbeen assembled. Any surface that has been filled needsto be smoothened with fine sand paper. Use latex oracrylic based paint (emulsion paint).4GB
