CONSTRUCTION OF A DOUBLE PENDULUM CHAOTIC FOR<br />
SHOWING NON-LINEAR BEHAVIOR IN ENGINEERING COURSES<br />
Abstract: The difficulty to <strong>de</strong>monstrate chaos in scientific experiments and the few n<strong>um</strong>ber<br />
didactical experiments with affordable cost often impe<strong>de</strong> practical teaching in this area. This<br />
paper presents a proposal to build a bench for didactic <strong>de</strong>monstration of non-linear dynamic<br />
behavior. The project aims have low cost and easy construction. This is a mechanical<br />
pendul<strong>um</strong> system with external excitation, constructed from materials in common use. In this<br />
work are shown the main steps to reproduce the experiment and highlighted its main<br />
advantages and potential for teaching courses in engineering and physics with the possibility<br />
of visual <strong>de</strong>monstration of chaotic behavior.<br />
