que nos suscitou dúvidas sobre a <strong>efetivida<strong>de</strong></strong> da <strong>clorexidina</strong> armazenada<br />

em Cuiabá – MT, por se tratar <strong>de</strong> uma cida<strong>de</strong> com temperaturas<br />

bastante elevadas.<br />

As informações fornecidas pelos fabricantes sobre<br />

armazenamento <strong>do</strong>s produtos usa<strong>do</strong>s no estu<strong>do</strong> não mencionam<br />

quais condições <strong>de</strong> conservação <strong>de</strong>vem ser utilizadas pelos<br />

estabelecimentos comerciais e pelos consumi<strong>do</strong>res. Informações<br />

como temperatura e umida<strong>de</strong> são itens importantes para a segurança<br />

<strong>do</strong> consumi<strong>do</strong>r, sen<strong>do</strong> que a Lei 8078/90 <strong>de</strong>termina<br />

que os fornece<strong>do</strong>res divulguem esses da<strong>do</strong>s. Em estu<strong>do</strong> sobre o<br />

tema, DA SILVA et al (2000) observaram a bula <strong>de</strong> 48 fármacos<br />

<strong>de</strong> mais <strong>de</strong> 26 fabricantes. Seus resulta<strong>do</strong>s sobre a questão<br />

armazenamento <strong>de</strong>screvem ser as bulas a<strong>de</strong>quadas, pois informam<br />

os cuida<strong>do</strong>s necessários em relação à temperatura, umida<strong>de</strong><br />

e violação <strong>de</strong> rótulo, fato não percebi<strong>do</strong> nos medicamentos<br />

analisa<strong>do</strong>s.<br />

Os tempos experimentais <strong>de</strong> 8, 16 e 24 dias utiliza<strong>do</strong>s no<br />

estu<strong>do</strong> são longos se compara<strong>do</strong>s a estu<strong>do</strong>s usan<strong>do</strong> meto<strong>do</strong>logia<br />

<strong>de</strong> halo <strong>de</strong> inibição (CURY et al, 2000, ESTRELA et al, 2001, ES-<br />

TRELA et al, 2003, CARSON et al, 2005); entretanto, a<br />

substantivida<strong>de</strong> da <strong>clorexidina</strong> tem si<strong>do</strong> testada e percebida recentemente<br />

(ROSENTHAL et al 2004, DAMETO et al, 2005), fato<br />

encontra<strong>do</strong> nesse trabalho.<br />

Apesar <strong>de</strong> os resulta<strong>do</strong>s apresentarem uma eficiência<br />

satisfatória, é importante <strong>de</strong>ixar claro a necessida<strong>de</strong> <strong>de</strong> um<br />

aprofundamento nos estu<strong>do</strong>s das estruturas físico-químicas <strong>do</strong><br />

produto e <strong>do</strong> efeito antimicrobiano em um maior número <strong>de</strong><br />

microorganismos, quan<strong>do</strong> expostos a alta temperatura e baixa<br />

umida<strong>de</strong>.<br />

Concluin<strong>do</strong>, <strong>de</strong> acor<strong>do</strong> com a meto<strong>do</strong>logia empregada neste<br />

estu<strong>do</strong>, não foram observadas diferenças <strong>de</strong> armazenamento<br />

<strong>do</strong>s produtos testa<strong>do</strong>s entre <strong>de</strong>ntais e farmácias <strong>de</strong> Cuiabá-MT,<br />

no que se refere à temperatura e umida<strong>de</strong>.<br />

As amostras <strong>de</strong> <strong>gluconato</strong> <strong>de</strong> <strong>clorexidina</strong> a 0,<strong>12</strong>% bem como<br />

as <strong>de</strong> di<strong>gluconato</strong> <strong>de</strong> <strong>clorexidina</strong> a 2% adquiri<strong>do</strong>s em <strong>de</strong>ntais e<br />

farmácias <strong>de</strong> Cuiabá -MT, exerceram ação antimicrobiana estatisticamente<br />

semelhantes sobre Candida albicans.<br />

ABSTRACT<br />

The antimicrobial activity of 0.<strong>12</strong>% and 2% chlorhexidine<br />

gluconate (Cl), acquired at different hospital-based pharmacies<br />

and drugstores in Cuiabá-MT, on Candida albicans was evaluated.<br />

Seventy-two petri plates were used, containing agar-Saboraud<br />

culture medium. Initially, 6 plates were separated and 6 paper<br />

circles moistened in physiological solution were placed in the<br />

center of the respective plates (negative control). On another 66<br />

plates, microorganisms were inoculated and in 6 plates, a paper<br />

circle was placed in the center (positive control). On the remaining<br />

60 plates, 6 paper circles per plate were ad<strong>de</strong>d, filled with test (CL)<br />

and control substances (SF), one substance per sextant. The<br />

groups were analyzed after three experimental periods: 8, 16<br />

and 24 days. For verification of the results, halo circles were used<br />

for the inhibition of bacterial growth, measured with a digitalis<br />

calibrator and the help of a stereoscopic magnifying glass.<br />

Observations on days 8, 16 and 24 revealed that no statistical<br />

differences occurred between 0.<strong>12</strong>% and 2% chlorhexidine<br />

gluconate. In conclusion, 0.<strong>12</strong>% and 2% chlorhexidine gluconate<br />

acquired in different hospital-based pharmacies and drugstores<br />

in Cuiabá, presented clear antimicrobial action against Candida<br />

albicans.<br />
