3.1. The main results in the antitrust field<br />
New investigations<br />
26 investigations have been initiated, out of which 21 on the possible infrigement of<br />
the competition legislation, 2 concerning the analysis of economic concentrations<br />
and 3 regarding certain economic sectors (sector inquires).<br />

If we are not taking into consideration the investigations on the analysis of economic<br />
concentrations (initiated following the notification), compared to 2009, the number of<br />
the investigations initiated in <strong>2010</strong> has reduced by 22% in the case of the investigations<br />
on the possible infringement of the competition law and by 40% for the sector<br />
inquires. This evolution essentially shows that in <strong>2010</strong> the competition authority has<br />
accentuated its efforts on finalising the on-going cases.<br />
Compared to 2008, there was a significant increase of the number of the investigations<br />
on the possible infringement of the competition law and of the sector inquires initiated<br />
in 2009, as well as in <strong>2010</strong>, demonstrating an obvious intensification of the<br />
investigative activity of the institution in the last two years.<br />
As regards the 21 investigations on the possible infringement of the competition<br />
legislation initiated in <strong>2010</strong>, we are underling that around 80% are ex-officio procedures.<br />
