2017 ANNUAL
IMPACT REPORT
CHANGING LIVES. GROWING COMMUNITY.
Thanks to our incredible donors, the YMCA of Greater Tulsa hit a major milestone in the drive to create lasting
positive change with the opening of the Tandy Family YMCA. Through strong partnerships and programs, 2017 has
been a year of tremendous impact. From newly launched medically based programs to helping children succeed in
school, it has been an exceptional year. We are pleased to share our year’s highlights.
Our growth has been
phenomenal.
With the opening of the Tandy
Y, our membership increased
by 3,000, ending the year with
more than 34,000 individuals as
members of the Y.
With usage up by 17%, more
people than ever have walked
through our doors.
We remain committed
to our promise of never
turning anyone away due
to inability to pay.
Because of the generous
contributions through our
annual support campaign, we
shared more than $1,000,000
in scholarships for membership
and programs.
Our impact is far-reaching.
Through programs like Camp
Hope, Pedaling for Parkinson’s,
Diabetes Prevention, OK Fosters
initiatives, and our new Healthy
Table Nutrition Kitchen, more
than 4,700 families received
scholarships.

PROGRAM IMPACT
The Y is for Healthy Living, Youth Development, and Social Responsibility.
Our kids are ready to learn.
We helped close the summer learning gap for more
than 3,000 students. We committed to ensuring 110
children were ready to enter Kindergarten. Even more
exciting, our partnerships with schools helped us
provide enriching out-of-school time for 1,600 youth.
67% of our third graders are reading at or above
grade level, an increase of 6% over 2016.
88% of our preschoolers are on track to reach or
exceed age-appropriate milestones, a 3% increase
over 2016.
We say YES to youth sports.
Y Elementary soccer [YES] has tripled its numbers,
ensuring more than 350 students maintain a C
average, have zero school absences, and zero referrals
to the principal—all while learning to be a part of a
team and thrive.
Our members love us.
90% of members report the Y helps them achieve
their goals.
We’re invested in our approach to Healthy
Living through creation and implementation
of our medically based programs.
We taught 50 people how to perform Blood Pressure
Self-Monitoring (BPSM); through our Pedaling for
Parkinson’s class, 38 people living with PD mitigated
their symptoms, improved their balance, and enjoyed
the freedom of riding a bicycle again; and a recently
introduced program, Move Together, has brought 685
people who hadn’t exercised in years to the Y.
Every one of our 150 participants in Diabetes
Prevention Program met the standard of
5% weight loss.
New partnership to solve hunger.
We’ve embarked on new partnerships to ensure our
kids and families have the resources to meet their
nutritional needs and understand the significant
impact this has on health and learning.
THANK YOU
for your support of the YMCA of Greater Tulsa. We strive to continue to expand the efforts of
our programs and the organization as a whole to make positive change in Tulsa for 2018 and into the future.
