LOOKBOOK // 2018

2018 COLLECTION:
BEQUEST
We are pleased to present the
newest collection from the Briar
Hill Designs Studio: Bequest.
This collection was inspired by
dishes, trinkets and treasures
passed down from generation to
generation. A bequest is something
given, left by will or transmitted
from the past; curios, antiques and
heirlooms found in a hope chest.
Twenty blue and white prints
compose the Bequest line. With a
perfect blend of dark and light
values, this quilt friendly collection
makes any sewing project a breeze!

NICE TO MEET YOU
Briar Hill Designs was born out of a beautiful synergic
friendship between two self-proclaimed fabric lovers,
Caverly Smith and Julia Wentzell. After months of
dreaming, designing, painting and planning, Caverly and
Julia transformed their vision into reality.
Caverly Smith brings her fine art background to the team
having earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Illustration from
Sheridan College in Ontario, Canada. Her speciality
includes oil painting with palette knife techniques, watercolour,
line-and-wash, and whimsical illustration, which she
considers her favourite medium.
Julia Wentzell is a lifelong sewing enthusiast with over 25
years of experience. Julia earned her diploma in Costume
Studies from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia,
Canada, where she honed her skills in pattern making,
fashion apparel, tailoring and 18th century apparel
construction. After trying her hand at quilt making, Julia
was hooked, and was soon sewing quilts of her own design
and style, creating a fresh take on traditional patchwork.
