BSC 402 Financing OrganizationsFinancing Organizations is an examination of the analytical tools used to manage and controlfinances. Concepts in this course include: the acquisition and oversight of working capital;intermediate and long term financing; and the cost of capital and capital budgeting.Students will demonstrate acquisition of financial skills by computing fundamental financialequations and applying them to first level analysis of corporate financial operations. Thiscourse serves as a platform on which other undergraduate and graduate finance courses arebuilt.BSC 407 The Effective OrganizationThe Effective Organization investigates dilemmas that routinely plague organizations as wellas possible solutions to these dilemmas. Topics include diversity within the organization;conflict and negotiation; perception, motivation and reinforcement; leadership roles throughoutthe organization; human resource management and team building; organizational cultures;ethics, critical thinking, design and information technology; and organizational changeand development.INT 302 International EconomicsAn introduction to international economics and trade designed specifically for non-economicsmajors. Topics addressed include basic theories of trade, foreign exchange markets, balanceof payments, tariffs and quotas, trade restrictions, trade balance, and the internationaldebt crisis.BSC 403 Legal Issues in the WorkplaceLegal Issues in the Workplace focuses on the legal environment of business. The course coversmajor issues for any business, including contracts, torts, business organizations, and theregulatory environment, including issues arising from expansion internationally. Employeeissues such as labor law, employee relationships, and discrimination are also examined. Studentswill be able to identify legal and regulatory issues and know how to solve the problemsthat they present.IS 330 Information SystemsInformation Systems will cover information systems taxonomies and general applicationssuch as CRM, SCM, eCommerce, ERP, business intelligence, knowledge management, financeand accounting, personal productivity, computer supported cooperative work (groupware),and global systems. Future trends and directions of information systems will concludethis course.MK 300 Principles of MarketingPrinciples of Marketing provides an introduction to basic marketing concepts. Topics includethe marketing mix, new product development, consumer behavior, customer relationshipmanagement, strategic planning and e-commerce. Students will develop a comprehensivemarketing plan and apply course concepts to real or imaginary products.BSM 495 Business StrategyBusiness Strategy is a capstone course that provides the student an opportunity to integratediscrete skills gained from prior coursework in general business, accounting, marketing, ma-32nagement, business law, communications, operations, human relations, and information systems.Students analyze business strategy, finance, growth and management issues, and problems,viewing them from multiple perspectives.BSM 404 International BusinessInternational Business examines the forces encouraging businesses to globalize their operationsand the rules which govern such activities. Topics include: the legal, business and culturalenvironments of Asia and Eastern and Western Europe; international business contracts;the resolution of trade and contract disputes; import and export regulations; and internationalforces affecting the uses of labor, competition and the environment. Students reexaminemany of the subject areas encountered throughout the BSBA program with a particularfocus on the international issues.BSM 405 Operations ManagementOperations Management explores production management in manufacturing and serviceenvironments. Topics include: cost accounting information to improve efficiency, productquality, total quality management, activity-based accounting (ABA), materials resource planning,and cost-volume profit. Students will focus on how to apply these concepts to realworld operation functions of both manufacturing and services. It is strongly recommendedthat College Math be taken prior to this course.PM 401 Fundamentals of Project ManagementFundamentals of Project Management utilizes a simulated team project to manage a project'slife cycle. Emphasis is placed on activity networks, managing resources, and creating controlmechanisms that minimize risk. Project leadership is explored in the context of buildingeffective project teams and maintaining stakeholder relationships. Students will learn andapply basic project management concepts including triple constraint, planning, scheduling,work breakdown structures and project control.BSM 304 Effective Organizational CommunicationsEffective Organizational Communications covers effective internal and external communicationin the evolving organization. Students will assess their management communicationstyle and identify areas for improvement. Topics include interpersonal and small group dynamics,use of communications technology, motivation, conflict resolution and communicatingwith diverse audiences.COM 313 Public Relations: Principles and PracticesIntroduces the fundamental theories and practical applications of public relations, its functionsin organizations, and its role in society. The course emphasizes three critical aspects ofpublic relations work: communication, writing, and problem solving. Students will trace thehistorical development of public relations and explore concepts and theories related to publicrelations management in the future.IS 360 Database TechnologiesDatabase Technologies covers data modeling, design, normalization, change control, backup/ recovery, data dictionaries, client server architecture, SQL, Relational and Object Databases,Access, and Oracle, mySQL (open source).
