Other Literary Research Resources In this week?s first discussion prompt, you will compare various resources scholars
use to find relevant secondary sources. Along with Internet search engines and library databases, another resource for
information is a subject guide. Subject guides are usually developed by librarians or subject experts who have evaluated
the information resources and have determined that they include useful resources. Most subject guides today are posted
online, and rely heavily on Internet sources. Search in two or more of the online literature subject guides, each listed
below, for information relevant to the poem that you will analyze in this week?s second discussion prompt. Then write a
post which describes your search experience. How did you look for information (search by keywords, browsing for
materials listed under certain categories, etc.)? How did this experience compare to searching through a search engine
and through a database? What advantages and disadvantages do you see in this research approach? Under what
circumstances (if any) would you look for information through subject guides (vs. through a database or an Internet
search engine like Google?). a. Internet Public Library 2 (IPL2)
reference websites (http://www.loc.gov/rr/main/alcove9/literature/literature.html) c. Voice of the Shuttle
(http://vos.ucsb.edu/) Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length. Support your claims with examples from
required material(s) and/or other scholarly resources, and properly cite any references. Respond to at least two of your
classmates? posts by Day 7.
