Many factors determine the next generations’<br />

relationship with their family business. In this<br />

session two members of the next generation,<br />

Ronan (Clancy Group) and Rupa (Day Lewis),<br />

will talk about what compelled them to join their<br />

family firms, what entices them to stay, the<br />

challenges they have overcome and their advice<br />

to others thinking about their future.<br />

Cousins Brett, Jonathan and Ross took over<br />

their family firm in their early 30s, and have<br />

since built the business into a nationwide brand.<br />

Ross and Jonathan will share some of the lessons<br />

they learnt through this experience and how<br />

this has shaped how they involve their own<br />

next generation.<br />

Carole, Professor of Entrepreneurship and Family<br />

Business at the University of Bradford, will share<br />

findings from the latest IFB Research Foundation<br />

study into next generation engagement.<br />

Behind the Mask With Susan Kaye, The Challenge of Excellence.<br />

A 3-part workshop aimed at helping younger family members to<br />

better understand and give voice to their needs and aspirations for<br />

the future.<br />

explore new ideas, deeper questions and connect with others looking<br />

to engage the next generation.<br />

Succession Planning and Next Generation Engagement With Alex<br />

Scott and Kydd Boyle, Sandaire Investment Office. Hear from two<br />

generations of this successful family about how they are empowering<br />

their next generation.<br />

Behind the Mask (Part 2) With Susan Kaye, The Challenge of<br />

Excellence. Get crafty in this session, where you will create your<br />

own mask and explore what you want to share from behind it the<br />

following day.<br />

The Masks we Wear With Francesco Lombardo, Veritage. This<br />

session will help you discover the mask you wear in your family and<br />

uncover the story you hide behind.<br />

Open Space With Oasis School of Human Relations. This workshop<br />

will explore in depth some of the issues raised in the Marketplace<br />

of Ideas.<br />

Next Generation Inquiry IFB Next Generation members will share<br />

their personal journeys and reflect on their learnings from the<br />

collaborative IFB Inquiry.<br />

Business Transformation With Charles Le Strange Meakin, KPMG.<br />

This session will explore the challenges family businesses are<br />

facing in transformational times and how to prepare to ensure long<br />

term success.<br />

will launch the latest IFB Research Foundation report, unveiling key<br />

findings and frameworks for next generation engagement.<br />

Why I Engaged With My Family Business? With Rupa Patel, Day<br />

Lewis, and Ronan Clancy, Clancy Group. Representing the next<br />

generation, Rupa and Ronan will share their experiences of engaging<br />

with their family businesses.<br />

Open Space With Oasis School of Human Relations. This workshop<br />

will explore in depth some of the issues raised during the Marketplace<br />

of Ideas.<br />

Empowering The Next Generation Through Philanthropy With Paddy<br />

Walker, J. Leon and Company, and Leesa Muirhead, Adessy. This<br />

workshop will explore how philanthropy can become a source of next<br />

generation empowerment.<br />

Behind the Mask (part 3) With Susan Kaye, The Challenge of<br />

Excellence. Share your thoughts from behind the mask you built and<br />

invite a member of your family to wear your mask, putting themselves<br />

in your shoes.<br />

The Kids Are Alright: How Are the Seniors? With Ken McCracken,<br />

KPMG. There is a lot of information on helping the next generation<br />

prepare for ownership and leadership. But what support do the<br />

seniors need?<br />

Family Council and Employment Policies With Arnaud de Coninck,<br />

Solvay, Chris Bailey, NG Bailey, and Carlos Arbesú. Arnaud and Chris<br />

will share their family governance journeys and what they have learnt<br />

will explore in depth some of the issues raised during the Marketplace<br />

of Ideas.<br />

How Do You Talk About Wealth In Your Family? Facilitated by Smith &<br />

Williamson. Wealth - does it motivate, scare or turn off younger family<br />

members? How do you educate the next generation about money and<br />

how do you pass it on?<br />

Next Generation Inquiry IFB Next Generation members will share<br />

their personal journeys and reflect on their learnings from the<br />

collaborative IFB Inquiry.<br />

3:00pm – 4:45pm Inspiration and Learning From Business Families<br />

With Maria del Mar and Gonzalo Raventós, Codorniu. In this panel<br />

session two generations of the family business behind Spanish Cava<br />

will share how they engage the 150 next generation members of<br />

their family.<br />

With Ross and Jonathan Warburton, Warburtons. In the final panel<br />

session Ross and Jonathan will talk about the challenges and<br />

opportunities they faced when being handed the reins of the family<br />

firm, and how this has influenced their plans for engaging their<br />

next generation.<br />
