1430: Άλωση της Θεσσαλονίκης από τους Οθωμανούς.
1492 μέχρι τα μέσα του 16 ου αιώνα: Εγκατάσταση
των Εβραίων προσφύγων της Ισπανίας (Σεφαραδίτες)
στην Θεσσαλονίκη.
1912: Απελευθέρωση της Θεσσαλονίκης .
1914: Κήρυξη του πρώτου Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου.
1917: Καταστροφική πυρκαγιά αφανίζει μεγάλο
κομμάτι της πόλης .
1922: Υπογραφή συνθήκης της Λωζάννης και απόφαση
ανταλλαγής πληθυσμών( Η πόλη αδειάζει από τον
μουσουλμανικό της πληθυσμό και ταυτόχρονα
χιλιάδες πρόσφυγες συρρέουν σε αυτήν από την
Μικρά Ασία).
1943: Χιλιάδες Εβραίοι της Θεσσαλονίκης
μεταφέρονται στα ναζιστικά στρατόπεδα και η Εβραϊκή
κοινότητα της πόλης σχεδόν αφανίζεται.

settlement in Thessaloniki following their expulsion

1912: The Liberation of Thessaloniki
1914: The outbreak of World War I
1917: The Great Fire destroys a major Part of the city.
1922: The Treaty of Lausanne is signed. The Muslim
population of Thessaloniki and the Christians of
Minor Asia are simultaneously being deported under
the Convention concerning the Exchange of Greek
and Turkish Populations.
1943: Thousands of the Jews living in Thessaloniki are
regularly being transported by freight trains to Nazi
Concentration camps. The Jewish community of the
city is almost destroyed.
