unsustainable model depletes<br />
the remaining resource in the<br />
villages: the buildings themselves.<br />
Thankfully, the local government<br />
of <strong>Shanglin</strong> <strong>Village</strong> has<br />
taken note, and new programs<br />
have been implemented not<br />
only to counteract the economic<br />
decline, but also to preserve the<br />
village’s heritage.<br />
