70, 000 lampposts illuminate and adorn the roads and<br />
streets of Sharjah<br />
Dr. Al Leem: “A comprehensive<br />
Plan adopted to introduce smart<br />
street light installations reducing<br />
the power consumption by 50%”<br />
According to recent report issued<br />
by Sharjah Electricity & Water<br />
Authority, the streets and roads<br />
throughout the Emirate of Sharjah<br />
are illuminated and adorned by<br />
about 70,000 lampposts at the<br />
highest global standards, out<br />
of which 47,700 lampposts of<br />
different sizes in Sharjah, 5,070<br />
in Khorfakkan, 6,000 in Kalba<br />
and 11,800 in the Central Zone.<br />
The lighting projects embarked<br />
by SEWA has contributed a great<br />
deal in reducing traffic accidents,<br />
which used to be caused by a<br />
lack of visibility, and improving<br />
security. The SEWA is very<br />
keen to have street lighting of<br />
international standards by using<br />
advanced lights and poles that<br />
cope with the rapid growth being<br />
witnessed in the emirate. It is a<br />
part of SEWA commitment to<br />
provide the customers with high<br />
quality service as per the most<br />
advanced international standards<br />
and to enhance the civilized<br />
modern image of Sharjah. H.E Dr.<br />
Rashid Al Leem, the Chairman<br />
of Sharjah Electricity and Water<br />
Authority stated the SEWA is<br />
currently working to implement<br />
the visionary instructions of<br />
His Highness Dr. Sultan bin<br />
Mohammed Al Qasimi, the<br />
Supreme Council Member of<br />
Sharjah use the smart LED lights<br />
which save about 50% of power<br />
Sharjah Electricity and<br />
Water Authority is replacing<br />
conventional street lights with<br />
energy-efficient lights in the<br />
emirate to reduce electricity<br />
consumption, maintenance costs<br />
and environmental impact, Old<br />
yellow street lights are being<br />
replaced by white LED lights in<br />
Sharjah, making roads safer and<br />
brighter. Upon embarking such<br />
project, great attention is devoted<br />
to the highest security and safety<br />
standards upon installation of<br />
street lighting poles and provision<br />
the regular maintenance for street<br />
lighting installations at all roads<br />
and areas<br />
He pointed out that the street<br />
lighting projects are being<br />
executed in all part of the Emirate<br />
of Sharjah in accordance with<br />
a strategic plan and schedule.<br />
