May Explorations:
Reading: We are continuing to work on asking questions, before, after
and during reading. We will also begin to compare and contrast
similar stories (e.g., Goldilocks and the Three Bears)
Continue with daily Home Reading Program
Writing: We will be finishing up our persuasive writing pieces and
writing narrative stories.
Math: We will continue to compose and decompose numbers, as well
as learn about time to the hour and half hour, temperature, mass
and capacity.
Science: We will continue learning about living things. How can we
care for and respect all living things? We will begin a research
project in class on an animal of their choice. Check out pebblego:

Home Practice Activities
Read daily! How do the pictures help you understand what you are
reading? Try sounding out the words, letters and sounds that you
know.
Practice asking questions. When reading, have your child wonder
about something they have read
Start talking about time on the hour and half an hour. What time
do we wake up? Have breakfast? Go to bed?
What living things do you have around your home? What would
happen if those things were no longer alive? How do living things
help each other? Why do we need bees?

Important info:
With the weather changing, it is very important that students
have a pair of indoor shoes that are kept at school. They can also
use these shoes for Gym. It is also important that each student
has a change of clothes in case it is needed. Please label these
clothes.
Our room can be very warm. Please ensure your child is dressed
appropriately and has a reusable water bottle to keep hydrated.
We use whiteboards everyday. Donations of whiteboard markers
are appreciated.
