Literature Review<br />

The articles reviewed pertained to several psychological studies. These studies were performed to determine <strong>the</strong> effects <strong>of</strong><br />

prenatal substance exposure on a child’s development. The substances included in <strong>the</strong> studies are tobacco, cocaine and<br />

alcohol. There were many factors involved in <strong>the</strong> research. Some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se factors considered in <strong>the</strong> research are physical, such as<br />

<strong>the</strong> participant’s age and gender. The studies also measured height, weight and general health <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> participants. There were<br />

social factors included in <strong>the</strong> studies such as <strong>the</strong> participants’socioeconomic status. The participants were also measured for <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

social ability and skill. The research also accounted for <strong>the</strong> participant’s environment, however; <strong>the</strong>re were too<br />

many potential contributing environmental factors to get definitive results...<br />
