1888 Press Release - The Third Annual ALD(TM) World Championship will return to Barefoot Resort & golf
in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for the second straight year.
Columbia, SC - Each year the ALD Championship Series culminates in a World Championship for
competitors of all ages and abilities. With male and female divisions for Youth (13 & under), Junior (14 - 17),
Open (all ages), Senior (44 - 59), Super Senior (60 - 69), 70+ (over 70), Military / Veteran, and Adaptive,
anyone can compete. “We have competitors from age 4 to 77 this year,'' remarked ALD founder, Jeff
Gilder. “There’s a division for everyone, regardless of age and ability.”
ALD completed over 40 tournaments in leagues in the USA and Canada for the 2018/19 season. The new
2019/20 season begins September 1st with significant growth planned that includes doubling the number of
tournaments across the USA and Canada and adding more countries. The new season will include
competitions in India, South America and Mexico.
“Our largest division is the Open Men’s division,” says Gilder. “Many of those guys have aspirations for
professional long drive, and will use ALD to work on their game. But, many of our hitters just enjoy the
challenge to compete against someone of their own skill level. There’s nothing like getting on the tee box with
only one goal...to hit the ball as far as possible with loud music and screaming fans in the background. It is
exciting and extremely competitive!”
Anyone who has not yet competed this season, but would like a shot at the World Championship may enter
the Last Chance Qualifier on August 15th at Barefoot Resort & Golf. Several competitors from this event will
transfer to the World Championship the following day.
