An update from our Board this afternoon<br />
This week we have been working on a daily basis with Welsh Government and Welsh Optometric Committee<br />
to provide further guidance on the following:<br />
- Liaising with Shared Services Partnership (SSP) over claims before and after 18 th March 2020 – we<br />
have a deadline of 30 th March to go back to with comments on their FAQs which will help practices<br />
understand and help practices with claims etc<br />
- Clarifying guidance over additional payments to practices that remain open to provide ‘essential’<br />
services<br />
- Working with Optometric Advisers to determine how eye care will be delivered over the next few<br />
weeks<br />
- Working with the UK Government to understand how to support practices who are or have been<br />
furloughing staff<br />
- Working with the UK Optical Bodies to understand how to work with the guidelines and advice<br />
around PPE<br />
The intention is to address these issues in one communication from Welsh Government. Despite best efforts<br />
and because we want to get this right we haven’t been able to meet our self imposed deadlines. I would<br />
prefer to try to get this right so please be patient with us as we try to do this. When this document is signed<br />
off and when we are happy with it, we will share it. If it’s outside of my working hours, I will find the time to<br />
provide the reassurance we know you need. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me, I might not be<br />
able to provide you with the answers to any of the above but your feedback is helping me take issues to the<br />
many stakeholders we are working with.<br />
