The Beach Club is a beautiful and unique asset that is enjoyed by a broad cross section of our membership. The
information and policies in this publication are intended to ensure a pleasant environment that balances the desires and
expectations of all members. We ask that you become familiar with its content and share the information with your
family.
Hector Hoyos, is returning as Beach Club Manager. Hector will provide day-to-day, hands on supervision of the Beach
Club and will be your “point person” for all questions beach related. Hector will be assisted by Clara Coccoli who will take
on a supervisory role in 2023. Tony Coccoli is returning as our Beach and Waterfront Director and will be responsible for
lifeguard and beach attendant staff. Tony will be assisted by Will Ostrand and Ali Lomanto will be our Head Swim and
Dive Coach. Please flip to page 7 for more information about our 2023 Beach Club staff.
Safety of all is our primary goal at Wee Burn. Please observe the stop signs and come to a full stop at the crosswalk. Be
especially aware of people crossing between the tennis and pool area. The turn into and out of the Club from and onto
Roton Avenue can be challenging and we ask that members pay special attention and drive slowly when making that
turn. Please use Roton Avenue to access the Club, NOT the private Rowayton Beach Association roads.
Parents are reminded that they, not the lifeguards, are responsible for non-swimmers in the main pool. All
children will be required to demonstrate their ability to swim competently prior to being allowed in the main
pool without a parent.
Please refer to the back page of this publication or click here for information about guests. An attendant will again be
registering guests at the beach side entrance. In addition, a gate attendant will check vehicles upon entry to the Beach
Club parking lot during busy periods. If you have a Beach Club window sticker you may proceed without
stopping at the gate. If you are expecting guests, please stop and inform the attendant of your name and the
names of any guests you may be expecting. Please remember that a guest may be introduced up to eight times per season
(there is no limit on the number of times a guest may be introduced for dining at Soundview or Ballast Reef).
Please pay close attention to the Dress Code. Please ensure your family and any guests are aware of these rules. Dress Code
policies will be enforced by Staff.
Parking is a perennial concern. Parking spaces are limited and we ask that whenever possible members car pool when
visiting the Beach Club. Please park in the designated spaces only.
If you have comments regarding operations please contact either of us or a member of the Beach committee. We sincerely
hope you enjoy the summer.

Parents are asked to ensure that their children are wellbehaved
and respectful of the facility, its staff and other
members and their families. Please be sure that children
and their guests understand that the Pool Director,
lifeguards and other staff are charged with ensuring a safe
and pleasant environment. Hence, they will be making
sure that everyone complies with the rules and we trust
they will be afforded the utmost level of respect.
Children under nine years old may not be left at the Beach
Club without proper supervision. However, please use good
judgment and refrain from leaving younger than teenage
children at the beach with no supervision or planned
activities for extended periods. Beach Club staff may not
be asked to watch or care for children at any time.
Parents are responsible for their childcare employees.
Such employees may use the Beach Club facilities only to
the extent necessary in carrying out their duties.

Please use the locker room and lockers to store backpacks,
totes, athletic equipment and other items brought to
the Beach Club. Please do not leave such items on the
stone wall or the tables and chairs or in the snack bar
area as this needs to be available for dining. Items that
are left unattended will be removed and placed in the lost
and found.
Children are welcome to play on the beach, the and on
the turf areas by the tennis courts. When not in use by
the Beach Camp, the Pavilion is available for use by
j u niors 8 year s of age and old er .
Please inform children that play is not allowed on the
pool deck, patio deck, parking lot and in the locker area
and bathrooms. In addition, children are asked to keep
their showers in the locker room brief.
Non-swimmers must be accompanied and supervised at
all times while inside the pool area or on the beach.
A non-swimmer in the main pool must be accompanied by
a supervising adult. Lifeguards are not responsible

Beach Club.
Please be aware that sharp shells and rocks accumulate in Long
Island Sound and water shoes are strongly suggested.
The rocks at the western end of Wee Burn's beach are

Children in diapers, training pants, plastic pants, swimming
diapers or who are not toilet trained are not allowed
in the main pool. Please remind childcare employees that
diapers may only be changed in the bathrooms where
changing tables are provided.

Please respect the wishes of our Rowayton neighbors
by observing posted speed limits and by using
McKinley Street, instead of side streets, to gain access
to Roton Avenue. Parking is not allowed on
Rowayton Beach Association Roads. When exiting
the Beach Club in the evening, please keep noise levels
to a minimum.
During pool hours, an attendant will be located by the
crosswalk between the tennis courts and the Pool area
to help oversee the safety in this area, and to ensure
drivers proceed with caution.
While it is the attendant's role to help oversee this
area, parents continue to be responsible for the safety
of their children in all areas of the parking lot.
Food and beverages may not be brought to the
Beach Club, except after 5:00 p.m. on designated
picnic nights or when advertised otherwise. Food is
not allowed in the tennis or pool area.

Members may store their own paddle boards and/or
kayaks at the Beach Club, please contact Hector for
details. Paddle boards and kayaks should be locked
when not being used. Please note that the Club does

at 5:00 p.m. to allow for the staff and menu transition.

HECTOR HOYOS—BEACH CLUB MANAGER
It’s hard to believe this is Hector’s 21st year at Wee Burn and his third as
Beach Club Manager. Hector is looking forward to a safe, enjoyable season
for all in 2023 and is excited about the improvements that have been made
this off-season.
CLARA COCCOLI—BEACH CLUB SUPERVISOR
Clara Coccoli has been working at Wee Burn for 7 years. She has been a
camp counselor as well as the smiling face that checks in members and
guests. Clara is currently finishing up her degree in Early Childhood Education
TONY COCCOLI—WATERFRONT DIRECTOR
Tony has been the Aquatics/Waterfront Director at Wee Burn since the
summer of 2012. He is also an educator at Staples High School in Westport,
where he teaches chemistry and biology. He retired from coaching
football and lacrosse for Staples in 2010. Prior to teaching, Tony owned and
operated Vinco Marina in Norwalk.
ALI LOMANTO—HEAD SWIM AND DIVING COACH
Ali has been a swimmer since she was 6 years old, growing up competing in
the FCSL. She started diving at the age of 14 and was on the Varsity
Swim and Dive team at Darien High School all 4 years. Ali is pursuing a
Masters degree in Educational Psychology at UConn and is excited about
her 7th summer at Wee Burn.
WILL OSTRAND—ASSISTANT WATERFRONT DIRECTOR
William Ostrand grew up in Fairfield County, attending Darien High
School until he graduated in 2018 where he rowed, ran cross country, and
played rugby. He is a graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges
where he majored in Physics and minored in Math and Philosophy, and is
now attending graduate school for physics.
