6 79 couples from 43 countries had come to struggle for the title. Carlos Freitag , President of the International Dancesport Federation (IDSF) opened the championship on November 27th 2010 at Wetzlar (Germany). He thanked Philipp Feht, President of the Schwarz-Rot-Club Wetzlar, and his team for organizing this special event. Marco Sietas, General Sectretary of the IDSF, as chairman and Franz Allert, President of German Dancesport Federation, as master of ceremony arranged the championship. Rittal- Arena in Wetzlar was completely filled with an enthusiastic audience. The Feedback Dancing Band, well known in Germany for strict rhythm in Standard and Latin American dances, gave the audience chances for dancing between the rounds and after the championship. As sure as Benedetto & Claudia won the World Championship 2010, there also was no doubt about 2nd place. Emanuel Valeri & Tania Kehlet from Denmark achieved 2nd place in all dances and with 10 points won the title of World Vice Champions Standard 2010. Emanuel & Tania inspired the audience – and especially the large group of fans from Denmark – with their very emotional interpretation of standard dancing. Simone Segatori & Annette Sudohl from Germany impressed with elegance and accuracy again and achieved 3rd place in all dances except the quickstep. With this performance Simone & Annette attained 3rd place with 16 points. Sergey Konovaltsev & Olga Konovaltseva from The Russian Federation managed to take 3rd place in quickstep, but in all other dances they were set on 4th place. So at the end they achieved 4th place with 19 points. Sergey & Olga impress with their special dynamics and precision. Obviously they had expected more from this world championship. Marek Kosaty & Paulina Glazik from Poland were set on 5th place in all dances except the tango. Marek & Paulina also belong to the top group of couples in standard dancing in the world. Actually they are ranked at 5th place in the IDSF World Ranking List Standard. Dmitry Sarkov & Olga Kulikova from The Russian Federation performed very well but could not displace the other top couples. The adjudicators set Dmitry & Olga on 6th place in all dances except the tango where they attained 5th place. At the end with 29 points they achieved 6th place in the total evaluation.
