The Group has made significant investments in research 

and development, adopting advanced technologies 

(design software) to develop new fixtures and to 

improve those currently produced. 

LABORATORIES AND 

OPTICAL SYSTEMS 

Products are made highly reliable by using high-grade 

aluminium and an automated production system. 

At every launch of production, some pieces are 

inspected. 

Laboratories, identical to the ones available to the 

Italian Body for Quality Marking (IMQ), perform: 

• Heat and mechanical resistance tests 

• Glow wire test electromagnetic compatibility test 

• chemical tests on paint quality.

PHOTOMETRIC MEASUREMENTS 

were performed in our research laboratories, in compliance 

with the requirements of the european committee 

for lighting design, according to the following 

standards: cie 34 (road lighting), Cie 43 (floodlights), 

cie 51 (indoor lighting). These measurements will be 

shown as diagrams as well as tables. Moreover, our 

laboratories are specialised in the measurement of led 

products in compliance with uni 11356 standards and 

are presented graphically in charts and tables.

Archilight is the first web magazine, 

sponsored by Disano illuminazione, in 

Italian and English, dedicated to light and its 

multiple uses. It addresses those who work in 

the fields of lighting, design, architecture, sustainability, 

technology and art. It offers a wide 

range of ideas and innovations from all over the 

world and where lighting is used in an innovative 

way with extraordinary technical and aesthetic 

results. 

The Disano Group has made available free of charge to 

the customers who request it a CD containing multimedia 

catalogues and lighting technique software. Other 

available CDs are: one on “Large Projects”. Avaiable on 

CD and DVD. 

DLUX (Windows): The use of this software application, 

which is, in fact, a simulation program, requires a certain 

amount of knowledge in lighting design on the part of 

the user, who is required to describe the setting with a 

certain precision and to position the light fixtures. 

All the fixtures used in the processing can differ from 

one another, without number limitations, and can be placed 

anywhere, tilted or rotated in any direction, turned 

off or on, whether they be direct or indirect lighting. The 

luminous intensity distribution curve for each lighting 

fixture stored in the files can be viewed and printed out 

so it can be filed with the project. The programme supplies 

two methods for determining reflected light: one 

for primarily direct light and the other for reflected light. 

A module dedicated to designs for exteriors allows 

light fixtures, in this particular instance floodlights, to be 

entered and grouped together in platforms. Symmetries 

can also be set. The aiming of these floodlights takes 

place graphically by moving the axis directly on the 

area. Integration of the CADLUX application, which may 

be launched directly from within the programme, with 

DLUX. Its purpose is to read a CAD drawing, imported 

through the DXF format, and graphically select the 

rooms which can be tested in DLUX. 

DLUX-EX: Programme used only by Disano personnel. 

The programme develops lighting systems for 

sports facilities, provides technical information and 

calculates the illuminance values on the trafficable surface, 

vertical semi-cylinders near TV cameras or aerial 

specifications. 

DLUX-ST: Using this software program it is possible 

to design a street lighting system according to the most 

recent UNI, CIE and AFE requirements. The programme 

provides illuminant-related technical information , including: 

distribution curves (illuminances, semi-cylindrical, 

luminances) dimensional drawings, product photos and 

descriptions 

DLUX-VENTO: The Group has also developed a 

software application to calculate wind resistant anchor 

bases and poles. Should you require this measurement,

The lighting simulation of a room, the measurement 

and assessment of the parameters required to develop 

lighting systems for interiors, exteriors, streets and 

tunnels, while providing precise and accurate results

Disano illuminazione gives users the opportunity to 

download a free copy of the Dialux software complete 

with Disano and Fosnova catalogues. Access is granted 

to registered users via site registration after obtaining 

their personal username and password to be 

entered in the relative login fi elds on disano.it. A virtual 

guide is also available. 

Dialux Lighting designers can therefore rely on a constantly 

updated software system and product archive. 

Each lighting product included in the programme comes 

with a detailed description and technical information 

(power rate, intensity, luminous fl ux, luminance 

diagrams, isolux photometric curves). The data in Dialux, 

available in the ULD format, also include the threedimensional 

shape of the lighting fi xtures and light 

distribution; additional planning details include maintenance 

factors and UGR values. 

Dialux is easy to use, and has a drag-anddrop system 

that enables users to drag and place the icons representing 

lighting fi xtures and systems on different points 

of a map in order to obtain a complete calculation of 

surfaces with lighting design data of fl oors, ceilings 

and walls, as well as the values of energy consumption. 

The Dialux software is extremely useful to all lighting 

designers. It enables importing and exporting from all 

CAD programmes, as well as displaying the rendering 

of the project through quality photographs.

In the project and in the choice of light fixtures and, of course, of a light source, energy saving is of paramount importance. 

Disano Illuminazione and Fosnova have developed a wide range of fixtures able to meet all types of energy savings needs. 

Fixtures that have low-loss or electronic gear, or with innovative lamps not only save on energy but also on installation costs, 

since fewer lamps and fixtures are needed than in more traditional installations. 

Since energy-saving fixtures and control gear last longer than traditional ones, one also saves on replacement and maintenance 

costs. 

Modern lamps also produce up to 80% less heat than traditional ones. This means lower air-conditioning cost.

ENERGY SAVING: A MATTER OF COMMON INTEREST 

Energy can be saved in many different ways, also at home, 

and the manifold opportunities offered are often at hand. 

All it takes is a little care. Reducing irrational costs starting 

from now means thinking of the future. 

This can be done on a daily basis, in many different ways 

and smartly. 

We should think of energy saving as a resource to use and as 

an indispensable tool to reduce environmental impact. 

A more rational use of energy resources generates a twofold 

positive result: it benefits users (who will pay less expensive 

bills) and the community (Italy becomes more energy 

independent by reducing fuel consumption), and it is less 

polluting. 

Finally, it must be remembered that annual interior lighting 

costs in Italy (for domestic use and for all other uses as well) 

have been estimated to be in the region of 5 billion kilowatthours. 

This figure corresponds to 20% of energy consumption 

for lighting requirements and corresponds to over 1 million 

TEP (equivalent tons of oil). 

Taking time to either press a switch or turn a tap off can be 

hardly meaningful, however, if everybody did it on a daily 

basis, the results would be quite astonishing. 

Read these tips on how to save energy in daily life. 

• Do not forget to switch the lights off when you do not need 

them. Switching off 5 bulbs where not needed could save you 

up to approximately 60 euro a year, avoiding the emission of 

400kg of carbon dioxide every year. 

• Switch to low consumption light bulbs: one of them only can 

reduce your bill by 60 euro, avoiding the emission of 400kg 

of carbon dioxide during its lifecycle - which is up to 10 times 

higher than the lifecycle of ordinary bulbs. Low consumption 

bulbs cost more, but they are more cost-effective in the end. 

• Do not leave electrical equipment in standby mode and 

switch off when not in use. A TV running three hours a day 

(the average time that Europeans spend in front of the television) 

that is left in standby mode for the remaining 21 hours, 

consumes approximately 40% of its energy in standby mode. 

• Unplug the battery charger when not in use, as it still consumes 

energy when unplugged from the mobile phone. It has 

been estimated that approximately 95% goes to waste if the 

battery charger plug is left in permanently. 

All fixtures produced by Disano Group and any fixture 

contained in this catalogue have been designed and built 

according to applicable CEI 34-21 standards, harmonised 

with EN 60598-1/2 European standards. All European bodies 

for fixture certification and ENEC (European) or IMQ (Italian) 

marking assignment shall ensure that our fixtures comply with 

the provisions set out by applicable standards and authorise 

the application of the quality marking. Our product quality 

markings are the best warranty for safety and quality of the 

finished product. 

In the DISANO catalogue, there are some items, generally the 

more recent ones, that have two numbers (a subcode) at the 

end of the classical 6-digit code. These subcodes indicate 

the product type of wiring. Therefore, it is very important when

Polycarbonate fixtures of the Hydro series are IP66 waterresistant 

if installed at temperatures not exceeding 45°C. 

Direct exposure to sunlight can easily cause the temperature to 

exceed 45°C, which affects the degree of protection. However, 

it is recommended that these fixtures are used properly without 

altering their mechanical and protection properties (IP66); 

they should not be installed on surfaces subject to strong 

vibrations, outdoors on ropes or stakes; whenever this is 

necessary, waterproof steel fixtures should be used.
