The symposium will highlight successful collaborative<br />

research programs between Australia and Europe and<br />

provide a forum to foster new collaborations, particularly<br />

with Germany. Contributions will showcase the fields of<br />

materials science and engineering as represented in the<br />

topics of this conference. Abstracts are welcome from<br />

across the full spectrum of materials engineering including<br />

fundamental materials sciences, characterization methods<br />

and applications of materials technology and will be<br />

grouped into specific topic sessions. The two professional<br />

societies, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Materialkunde and<br />

<strong>Materials</strong> Australia, have recently established bi-lateral<br />

relationships which offer reciprocal advantages for their<br />

members, such as an initial one-year online membership in<br />

the other society. This symposium will not only showcase<br />

the excellent scientific output of Australian-European collaborations<br />

it will also strengthen established relationships<br />

and provide opportunities for new collaborations in order<br />

to build a common future for our two societies.<br />

min oral presentation /3 min discussion) or posters (posterpanels/short presentations<br />

during the poster session) relating to the conference topics.<br />

The abstracts will be evaluated, and if accepted, the authors will be informed<br />

about the kind of presentation (oral or poster).<br />

Especially young scientists are very welcome to actively contribute to the conference<br />
