TELEDYNE CONTINENTAL ® IGNITION SYSTEMSSERVICE BULLETINCompliance Will Enhance SafetyCATEGORY 3<strong>SB643B</strong>SUPERSEDES SERVICE BULLETINSSB632A , SB643 and SB643AFAA APPROVEDSUBJECT:PURPOSE:EQUIPMENTAFFECTED:MAINTENANCE INTERVALS FOR ALL TCM AND BENDIX AIRCRAFTMAGNETOS AND RELATED EQUIPMENTRequired maintenance of TCM and Bendix Aircraft Magnetos and RelatedEquipmentTCM and Bendix S-20, S-200, S-1200, D-2000 and D-3000 Magnetos,Ignition Harnesses, Ignition Switches and Starting Vibrators.General Information:The following information constitutes themanufacturer’s Instructions for ContinuedAirworthiness and outlines requiredmaintenance, inspection, cleaning and overhaulintervals of the TCM and Bendix magnetos andrelated equipment listed under "EquipmentAffected".Detailed Instructions:1. 100 HOUR, ANNUAL INSPECTION, ORPROGRESSIVE MAINTENANCE.A. Magneto-to-engine timing checks mustbe conducted at the shortest of theseintervals. Should the magneto-to-enginetiming require adjustment due toexceeding the limits specified by theengine manufacturer, a visualinspection of the magneto contactassemblies must be performed. Followprocedures in the PERIODICMAINTENANCE section of the latestrevision of the applicable ServiceSupport Manual, included in FormX40000 Master Service Manual. Ifinternal magneto components requirereplacement or adjustment, themagneto must be removed from theengine.B. Ignition Switches must also befunctionally tested at the shortest ofthese intervals. This inspection may beaccomplished by performing a "PreflightMagneto RPM Drop" test in accordancewith the Aircraft Manufacturer's Pilot'sOperating Handbook. Switch actionmust be smooth and free from sticking.For key type Switches, keys must beremovable only in the "OFF" positionand the switch must function inaccordance with the requirements ofthe latest revision of Service BulletinsNo. 636 and 653.C. Also at the shortest of these intervals,all Ignition Harness spark plug terminalsmust be removed from spark plugs,cleaned and inspected.
