Welcome to the 2012 DURO product guide and price list. This year 

sees the introduction of the new CUT N GRIND combination diamond 

blade/grinder specifically designed for angle grinders. CUT N GRIND 

can be used to cut almost any stone, tile or concrete product and 

then also be used to grind the same materials, which is ideal for 

the jobbing builder and craftsman. You’ll find these on page 34. 

During 2011 we worked hard to improve our service levels, an area where we put a lot of 

resources. We implemented a completely new ERP system, invested heavily in the expansion 

of our warehousing facilities, which now stand collectively at 10,000m2 . We also achieved 

ISO 14001 environmental certification and plan to further reduce our carbon footprint 

in 2012 by moving most of our product packaging to fully recyclable materials in line with 

the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). If you have suggestions of ways we could further 

reduce our impact on the environment, we’d love to hear from you. 

2012 also sees the new DURO web site fully 

operational. The site is aimed at providing our 

customers customers and yours with much more product 

and application information accompanied 

by related videos showing the products in in use.

DURO, the innovation leader in diamond blade technology for the 

construction industry have now launched a brand new patented 

segment manufacturing technology called High Density Forging 

(HDF) Technology. It is, perhaps, the most important step forward 

in diamond blade manufacturing since the dry cutting blade was 

launched more than 20 years ago. 

In this new DURO HDF process, instead of the diamond segments being sintered slowly in a 

tunnel furnace after being cold pressed, the segments are simultaneously heated to very high 

temperatures and pressed (stamped) to form a complete diamond segment within seconds. 

The advantages of this manufacturing process come from the fact that each segment has 

incredibly high density and almost no porosity (gaps in the bond system filled with oxygen). 

This high density quality delivers advantages in terms of the end products’ durability, speed of 

cut and reduced Hand Arm Vibration in use. As a result of the new metal powders which can be 

employed; it also allows new bond systems to be developed, which weren’t previously conceivable. 

For example, whilst the use of titanium coated diamond grits are nothing new to the diamond tool 

industry, the use of titanium powders in the bond system alongside is, and the benefits gained from 

this can increase diamond grit retention by up to 30%, giving huge life performance advantages. 

One of the largest benefits however is the significant reduction in porosity being transferred to the 

weld area during the laser welding process, where the segment and steel body are joined. In recent 

independent X-Ray analysis, it was found to completely remove porosity from the weld area, which 

has been an age old industry wide issue. Resulting weld strengths were almost 60% higher than 

before, with the steel core actually bending in side load tests before any weld failure. 

This kind of weld strength could eliminate the potential of a segment breaking away from the 

steel core in use altogether and therefore improve operator safety significantly, as diamond 

segments parting from the steel core at speeds of over 220mph (the rotational speed 

of a typical high speed hand held saw) have a huge velocity and have caused serious injury 

or even fatalities in extreme cases. 

All the new DURO HDF blades now carry the DURO logo embossed into one of the blades segments 

to avoid inferior copies being marketed. 

The true potential of this new technology, which DURO has helped develop over a 7 year period 

in Germany is still being discovered but the first products are now on the market and are available 

in several different specifications to cover a broad range of applications, including new dual purpose 

concrete/asphalt blades for the utility sector.

APPLICATION SELECTION BY COLOUR CODING 

All DURO diamond blades (except DURO BASE) have a colour 

coded section on the label to match the material application type. 

Please ensure that your blade selection matches the material 

you intend to cut. 


White colour indicates highly dense and very hard materials such as granite, slate, Class A engineering 

bricks, clay products, flint concrete, heavily reinforced concrete. 

UNIVERSAL/CONCRETE 

Grey colour indicates universal use in most hard to medium hard materials such as reinforced concrete, 

Class B engineering bricks, kerbs, lintels, beams, cast pipes, flags and general building materials. 


Yellow indicates that this product is designed to give the longest lifetimes with high 

in-feed rates in the widest possible range of construction materials, from the hardest engineering bricks 

and reinforced concretes to paviors, soft blocks and roof tiles - and even the ability to occasionally cut 

asphalt - all in one blade. 

ABRASIVE MATERIALS 

Pale Blue indicates abrasive materials such as, hand made bricks, facing bricks, concrete roof tiles, soft 

concrete paviors, green concrete, cement screed and other abrasive materials. 

ASPHALT 

Black indicates extremely abrasive materials such as, soft cement screed, lightweight concrete and 

cellular block, abrasive sandstone and grit stone, as well as tarmac and hot rolled asphalt on roads and 

pavements. 

METAL / STONE 

Red indicates that this product is designed for cutting more or less anything on the construction site 

including, but not exclusively, various types of metal. The special shape, with air cooling holes drilled into 

the steel core, coupled with the use of a very large diamond grit, allows these blades to cross the barrier 

in diamond technology and eliminate the need for changing blades when it is necessary to cut metal. 

CONCRETE ASPHALT 

The use of both grey and black indicates that this product is highly suited to both concrete and asphalt 

applications. Either application is possible exclusively or jointly, with similar results. The use of high quality 

diamond grit in a high concentration makes this product performance outstanding at the price level. 

ASPHALT CONCRETE HARD MATERIALS METALS 

The use of four colour codes makes this specification our most universal. Cut almost any material, 

excluding heavy metal applications (above 10mm gauge) with absolute ease and security, whilst 

benefiting from very high life times. The use of titanium coated diamond and high density bonds, coupled 

with innovative design features, including deep draft segments and cooling holes in the steel core put this 

product on the very highest level of performance. 

BUILDING MATERIALS 

This is the application type of our DURO BASE entry line blades and this indicates that the blades are 

suitable for universal use in most medium to hard building materials, including lightly reinforced concrete, 

medium hard bricks, blocks and stones.

areas is used for demolition work and starting holes in the centre of a 

concrete slab. The most common of the demolition steels used for general

DURO believe that the key to success is to create 

a desire for our products by the end user. There are many 

ways to achieve this, through advertisements, press 

communications and electronic media, all of which 

we employ but, the best way to create that desire 

is to get users to try out our products in the first place. 

To achieve this, we organise and implement sell through promotional campaigns on behalf 

of our dealers each year. Each campaign runs for between two and three months. We strive to make 

the campaigns as easy for our dealers as is possible, that means we take care of everything from 

product to POS, all our dealers have to do is take part. The net results of these activities is increased 

sales, profits and new customers acquired for us and for our dealers. We hope you will be tempted 

to participate in our up-coming promotions in 2011! 

In addition to our sell-through campaigns, DURO also run several sell in campaigns each year. 

These campaigns typically offer our dealers the chance to purchase stock at preferential terms 

or perhaps receive additional stock incentives as part of an offer. These promotions are well 

recognised by our dealers and are a great way to increase profits throughout the year.

The EN mark on our products signifies that it has 

passed tough quality inspection and been tested rigorously

Additionally many DURO products are approved by oSa 

(Organisation for the Safety of Abrasives). Where a standard 

doesn’t exist for one of our innovative products, DURO self 

certify through the GPSD (General Product Safety Directive). 

DURO tools are produced using only the highest quality raw materials available. Debeers 

(Element Six) and GE synthetic diamond grits, high grade carbon steels, fine metal powders 

and top grade abrasive grains are all used to create the perfect tools. 

We mark and package our products in line with current legislation

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF SALE 

Conditions of Sale – DURO UK Limited 

1. Definitions 

1.1 “Buyer” means the person who buys or 

agrees to buy the goods from the seller 

1.2 “Conditions” means the terms and 

conditions of sale set out in this 

document and any special terms and 

conditions agreed in writing by the seller 

1.3 “Delivery date” means the date specified 

by the seller when the goods are to be 

delivered 

1.4 “Goods” means the articles which the 

buyer agrees to buy from the seller 

1.5 “Price” means the price for the goods 

excluding carriage, packing, insurance 

and VAT 

1.6 “Seller” means DURO UK Limited 

of Sheffield in the county of South 

Yorkshire. 

2. Conditions Applicable 

2.1 These conditions shall apply to all 

contacts for the sale of goods by the 

seller to the buyer to the exclusion of 

all other terms and conditions including 

any terms of purchase or similar 

documentation supplied by the buyer at 

point of order. 

2.2 All orders for goods shall be deemed 

to be an offer by the buyer to purchase 

goods pursuant to these terms. 

2.3 Acceptance of delivery of delivery of 

goods shall be deemed conclusive 

evidence of the buyer’s acceptance of 

these conditions. 

3. Price & Payment 

3.1 The price shall be the sellers quoted 

price. The price is exclusive of VAT at 

the current rate. 

3.2 Payment of the price and VAT shall be 

due and payable on the date shown on 

the invoice. Time for payment shall be of 

the essence. 

3.3 If the buyer is a limited company or 

alternatively a partnership, and fails to 

pay the price in accordance with the 

seller’s terms as noted in the date 

specified on the invoice, the directors or 

partners of that limited company or 

partnership shall be jointly and severally 

liable to pay to the seller any unpaid 

invoice as addressed to the buyer. 

Any demand for payment by the seller 

to any one or more of the directors or 

partners of the buyer shall be deemed 

to be a demand made to all such 

persons as are jointly and severally liable 

upon the default of the buyer. The seller 

shall be at liberty to release or discharge 

from liability any one or more of the 

directors or partners of the buyer, or 

to compound with, accept compositions 

from or make any other arrangements 

with any of the directors or partners, 

without in consequence releasing or 

discharging any other party which is 

subject to the seller’s conditions, or 

otherwise prejudicing or affecting the 

seller’s rights and remedies against 

such party. 

4. The Goods 

4.1 The quantity and description of the 

goods shall be as set out in the seller’s 

quotation. 

5. Warranties and liability 

5.1 The seller warrants that the goods will 

at the time of delivery correspond to the 

description given by the seller. 

5.2 It is the responsibility of the of the buyer 

to return any faulty goods sufficiently 

packaged so as to avoid damage

shown in clause 1.6 above. No refund 

will be issued until the goods are 

received as aforesaid. 

5.3 In the event that upon inspection or 

testing the returned goods are found 

to be free of any faults, the seller may 

refuse to issue a full refund or make a 

reasonable charge for time spent 

6. Delivery of Goods 

6.1 Delivery of goods shall be made to the 

buyer’s address or as instructed by the 

buyer on the delivery date. The buyer 

shall make all arrangements to accept 

delivery of the goods whenever they are 

tendered for delivery. 

6.2 While the seller will endeavour to deliver 

the goods by any date or within any 

period agreed upon, such dates and 

periods are only estimates given in good 

faith and the seller will not be liable for 

any failure to deliver by such a date or 

within such a period. The seller will also 

not be liable for any costs arising from 

such failure. 

7. Acceptance of Goods 

7.1 The buyer shall be deemed to have 

accepted goods 48 hours after delivery 

to the buyer. 

7.2 After acceptance the buyer shall not be 

entitled to reject goods, which are not in 

accordance with the contract. 

8. Title and Risk 

8.1 The goods shall remain the property of 

the seller until 

8.1.1 The buyer has paid for the goods in full 

including VAT at the current rate. 

8.1.2 No other sums whatever shall be due 

from the buyer to the seller. 

8.2 The goods shall be at the buyers risk as 

from delivery. 

8.3 Until property of the goods passes to 

the buyer in accordance with clause 

8.1, the buyer shall hold the goods 

and each of them on a fiduciary basis 

as bailee for the seller. The buyer shall 

store the goods (at no cost to the seller) 

separately from all other goods in its 

possession and marked in such a way 

that they are clearly identifiable as the 

seller’s property. 

8.4 Not withstanding that the goods (or 

any of them) remain the property of 

the seller, the buyer may sell or use 

the goods in the course of the buyers 

ordinary business at full market value 

for the account of the seller. Any such 

sale or dealing shall be a sale or use 

of the seller’s property by the buyer on 

the buyer’s own behalf and the buyer 

shall act as principal whilst making such 

sales or dealings. Until property of the 

goods passes to the buyer the entire 

proceeds of sale or otherwise of the 

goods shall be held in trust for the seller 

and shall not be mixed with any other 

money or paid into any overdrawn bank 

account and shall be at all material times 

identified as the sellers money. 

8.5 The seller shall be entitled to recover the 

price including VAT not withstanding 

that the property in any of the goods 

has passed from the seller. 

8.6 Until such time as the property of the 

goods transfers to the buyer from the 

seller, the buyer shall upon request 

deliver such goods as have not ceased 

to be in existence or resold to the seller. 

If the buyer fails to do so the seller 

may enter upon any premises owned

occupied or controlled by the buyer 

where the goods are situated and 

repossess the goods. On the making of 

such a request the rights of the buyer 

under clause 8.4 shall cease. 

8.7 The buyer shall not pledge or in any 

way charge by way of security for any 

indebtedness any of the goods, which 

are the property of the seller. Without 

prejudice to the other rights of the seller, 

if the buyer does so all sums whatever 

owing by the buyer to the seller shall 

forthwith become due and payable. 

8.8 The buyer shall insure and keep insured 

the goods to the full price against “all 

risks” to the reasonable satisfaction 

of the seller until the date that the 

property of the goods passes to the 

buyer and shall whenever requested by 

the seller produce a copy of the policy 

of insurance. Without prejudice to the 

other rights of the seller, if the buyer 

fails to do so all sums whatever owing 

by the buyer to the seller shall forthwith 

become due and payable. 

8.9 The buyer shall promptly deliver the 

prescribed particulars of this contract 

to the registrar in accordance of 

the companies act 1985 part XII as 

amended. Without prejudice to the 

other rights of the seller, if the buyer 

fails to do so all sums whatever owing 

by the buyer to the seller shall forthwith 

become due and payable. 

9. Remedies of Buyer 

9.1 Where the buyer rejects any goods then 

the buyer shall have no further rights 

whatever in respect of the supply to the 

buyer of such goods or the failure by the 

seller to supply goods which conform to 

the contract of sale. 

9.2 Where the buyer accepts or is deemed 

to have accepted any goods then the 

seller shall have no liability whatever to 

the buyer in respect of those goods. 

9.3 The seller shall not be liable to the buyer 

for late delivery or short delivery of the goods. 

The provisions of this clause shall apply 

to rights claims or liability arising directly, 

consequently or otherwise. 

10. Proper Contract of Law 

10.1 This contract is subject to the law of 

England and Wales. 

11. Order Value and Carriage Terms 

• A minimum order value of £50.00 

applies to all orders. 

• Every effort will be made to despatch 

orders received before 4.00pm, on 

the same day, although this cannot be 

guaranteed. 

• Standard transportation will be NEXT 

WORKING DAY (free on orders over 

£150.00 net, £9.00 under £150.00 net) 

• Alternative transportation services are 

available on all orders as detailed below: 

º NEXT WORKING DAY before 10.30a.m. 

- £17.00 (£8.00 for orders over 

£150.00 net) 

º NEXT WORKING DAY before 12.00p.m. 

- £12.00 (£6.00 for orders over
