(Marketing and Advertising)
“Despite their synergies in the ‘real world’, most universities teach marketing and advertising in
separate faculties. Not Curtin. Our students can combine the two complementary disciplines, in
preparation for careers in marketing communications or any other marketing-related role.”
The BCom (Marketing and Advertising) programme is an offshore degree programme which carries the
same academic status and recognition as that offered to Curtin’s on-campus graduates.
The programme is designed to provide students with an understanding of the principles and processes
of advertising and other forms of marketing communications, from a marketing perspective. Marketing
anticipates demands for products, services and ideas by analysing the behaviour of competitors and
customers and developing the appropriate product, promotion, pricing and distribution strategies. Both
business and non-profit organisations increasingly recognise the importance of marketing in modern
management.
• Curtin University is ranked in the World’s Top 300 (QS World University Rankings 2011/12);
Professional Recognition
The International Advertising Association (IAA) is one of the leading global organisations in the
advertising field with 61 chapters in 95 countries. The IAA champions advertising as a force for growth in
all free market societies. Among many other activities the IAA accredits university advertising programmes.
