UZIN NC 888 is a highly versatile fast drying smoothing 

compound that can be used on a variety of substrates at 

depths up to 1”. Its fast setting formula is cover ready in 

15 minutes in most cases. It has excellent absorbency, 

superior bonding characteristics and doesn’t require 

priming for most applications. 

Fast setting, low slump patching and repair compound for any depth. A cementitious material 

suitable for filling holes, cracks and making general surface repairs to concrete substrates.

Wherever there is direct physical contact between the floor and 

wall, sound from the floor can pass to other parts of the building 

structure. As these waves enter into rigid surfaces such as 

walls or ceilings, the surfaces effectively act as loud speakers, 

projecting and transporting the sound throughout the building.

CHALLENGES 

Metropolitan Contract Carpets had to deal with a 110 year old concrete substrate that was 

uneven (from 0” to 1.5” deep) and in need of surface strengthening prior to leveling ahead of the 

installation of the wood parquet and specialty areas rugs. 

SOLUTION 

UZIN PE 460 MVR/Primer was selected in a one coat application to act as a surface consolidator 

and strengthener while also incorporating a sand broadcast to provide a gritted surface ahead of 

leveling with UZIN NC 170. This provided the flat, smooth surface needed to accept the specified 

large format wood flooring panels. This same process was used in the locations where the 

custom area rugs were installed only using UZIN NC 150 self-leveling compound with UZIN PE 

460 to repair minor surface imperfections and to provide floor flatness as needed.

Originally built as The Girard Trust Company 

in 1908, this historical gem is a reproduction of 

the Pantheon in Rome and its neoclassical style 

features 9,000 tons of Georgia marble. It was 

important to maintain the building’s banking history 

in the renovation’s design and those elements can 

clearly be seen in the sophisticated rich colors 

of precious metals and currency. UZIN products 

were chosen in order to meet the stringent

would have been needed for post-preparation in order to make the surface ready for installation.

Seattle’s PCC Natural Markets Greenlake Village location 

boasts a 27,000 s/f floor plan with a unique retail-residential 

concept. It pairs upscale apartment and condo living on the 

upper floors with a vibrant retail community on the ground 

floor in one of Seattle’s most desirable locations next to 

Green Lake. PCC Natural Markets is the anchor tenant with 

a construction envelope that features the store level above 

the parking garage. This provided the opportunity for UZIN 

technical managers to use our product systems to solve 

some major slab deflection and leveling challenges. 

Adapt analysis software and a laser level survey revealed slab 

deflections of between 1/2” and 5/8”, well above the maximum allowable 

limit which caused a rolling substrate. There were multiple cracks at 

column cores which needed to be chased, bridged and repaired. Areas

Column core openings were wrapped with foam barriers and the substrate was 

then shot blasted. The floor was primed with UZIN PE 260 Substrate Primer 

and then UZIN RR 201 Substrate Reinforcing Mesh was installed at all freight 

hallways, support columns and over minor repaired cracks. UZIN NC 150 Project 

Plus Leveling Compound was poured into the shallower areas and UZIN NC 

170 Premium Leveling Compound was poured into the deeper areas. All poured 

sections were ramped down with UZIN NC 182 Patching and Repair Compound.

All Ökoline products are solvent-free and low-emitting which means they do not release 

damaging volatile organic compounds into the environment. 


Because the Ökoline range recognizes and meets both GEV Emicode and Blue Angel requirements, 

they help to maintain healthy indoor environments for consumers. 

GEV-Emicode ® 

GEV represents the German acronym for the Association for the Control of Emissions in Products for Flooring Installation, 

Adhesives and Building Materials or Gemeinschaft Emissionskontrollierte Verlegewerkstoffe (see www.emicode.com). 

Emicode ® is GEV’s trademark-protected name for their stringent testing and labeling system that categorizes products into 

3 emission classes: 

EMICODE EC 1 PLUS = very low emission • EMICODE EC 1 R PLUS = very low emission, regulated • EMICODE EC 1 = low emission 


Although its mandate is primarily for the assurance of indoor air quality, by their very nature, these products are 

extremely low-emitting so also do not contribute to greenhouse gas accumulation. 


GEV’s extremely stringent standards are recognized internationally as the highest level of indoor air quality protection.

The Blue Angel 

The Blue Angel was the first environment-related label for products and services in the world. Since 1978 it has set the 

standard for eco-friendly products and services determined by an independent jury and by defined testing criteria. The Blue 

Angel is only awarded to products and services which are of considerable benefit to the environment and, at the same time, 

meet high standards of effectiveness, health and occupational protection (see www.blauer-engel.de/en/). 


Products are solvent-free and low in emissions and do not produce harmful ozone-depleting greenhouse gasses. 


Extremely low VOC’s, odors and preservatives which do not affect human health.
