<strong>Case</strong> <strong>Study</strong>: Network Rail at <strong>Bristol</strong> Temple Meads / 3The South West England & South Wales Branch of<strong>Stannah</strong> <strong>Lift</strong> <strong>Services</strong>, based in <strong>Bristol</strong>, has completedPhase 2 of their refurbishment project for NetworkRail at <strong>Bristol</strong> Temple Meads Station. The totalreplacement of three 56 person 4200kg hydraulicgoods/passenger lifts was completed in just 13weeks, to Network Rail specifications. The new liftsmeet the requirements of the <strong>Lift</strong>s Directive(95/16/EC) 1995, BS5655 and EN81-80.The huge lifts provide easy access for the movement of goods from theirdelivery point in the tunnel underneath the Station to Platforms 1-12.The three installations presented individual challenges; each shaft is unique asthey were constructed within the earliest Brunel-built tunnel at different times.There is over 100 years between the construction of each section of the tunnel,resulting in three distinct styles of vaulting and three shafts of different heights.3,700millimetres lift well width3,245millimetres lift well depth3,965millimetres headroom6,520millimetres maximum travel
