(U) National Alliance of Gang Investigators’ Associations<br />
partnerships with federal, state, and local law<br />
enforcement; aids communities with emergent<br />
gang problems; assists criminal justice<br />
professionals and public figures in identifying<br />
gang members, tracking gangs, and battling<br />
gang crime worldwide.<br />
(U) The National Alliance of Gang Investigators’<br />
Associations (NAGIA) is a cooperative<br />
organization formed in 1998. With more than<br />
20,000 members representing 23 state and<br />
regional gang investigator associations across<br />
the country, the NAGIA integrates the expertise<br />
of gang investigators nationwide, and combines<br />
multiple resources to combat the threat gangs<br />
pose to national security.<br />
(U) The NAGIA does not serve to replace or<br />
duplicate services provided by other entities,<br />
but rather drives federal, state, and local<br />
anti-gang initiatives and provides support to<br />
regional gang investigator associations and the<br />
Regional Information Sharing Systems (RISS)<br />
Program.<br />
(U) The NAGIA works to ensure public safety<br />
and to fulfill the national need for a coordinated<br />
response to violence, drugs, and other gangrelated<br />
crimes that adversely impact the<br />
quality of life within our communities. A unique<br />
alliance of criminal justice professionals, the<br />
NAGIA dedicates its efforts to the promotion<br />
and coordination of anti-gang strategies and<br />
provides leadership in the development and<br />
recommendation of programs designed to<br />
control gang crime.<br />
(U) As part of its function, the NAGIA<br />
consolidates and distributes intelligence;<br />
advocates standardized training; provides<br />
professional training; establishes uniform gang<br />
definitions; advises policymakers; maintains<br />
