MURDER STORY
by Martin Gráf
NESMRTELNOST
by David Kazda
A nearly terrifying silence interrupted
only by the sound of dripping water
from the sink filled the room. And it
remained so for a while. Neither the
woman still desperately clinging to
her daughter lying in a pool of blood
nor the man leaning onto the kitchen
counter made a sound. She no longer
had any breath to waste and he was
beyond solving his problems with
words. An utter closure was the
only thing that mattered to him at
this point. “I wonder if I should be
feeling any regret…” he muttered as
he picked himself up. The thoughts
of once fabled love followed him
on his way to the garage. Was it all
really just a lie embraced by all the
humanity or did he simply make a
mistake? He’d thought he’d actually
found it but had he really? Was this
how love worked? A short burst of
satisfied instincts and amazing sex?
He stopped for a second when going
past the workbench he and his son
used to work at. He remembered
his laughter, his amazement and his
blond hair instantly swept away by
the unforgettable image of his dead
son ying upstairs. His son had loved
him, yet he regretted nothing. Had
his son’s love for him ever been
returned, or was he just an obstacle
from the very beginning? It was a
question he couldn’t answer. But it
didn’t matter anymore. None of it.
Looking down at his bloody hands,
he couldn’t help but smile. He was
about to drop a lit match onto a
propane tank, right after he had killed
his own family and his hands weren’t
even shaking! “Perhaps I really am
crazy, Anna.” He whispered to his
dead wife while reflecting onto their
life together. It has been nothing
but misery, at least for him. His lust
and excitement died the second
they married. His freedom followed
shortly after and the birth of their
son stripped him of his last ambition.
He became nothing, a Nobody! He’d
wanted so much from life. He’d
expected so much. And all he got
was a small house, a nagging wife,
annoying and ungrateful children and
as a bonus a near broken car and a job
he’d never wanted but had to accept
nonetheless. “The least I can do is to
clean up my own mess.” And with
those words he let the match fall…
Člověk i lidstvo samotné je smrtelné,
ale mnoho lidí v minulosti, v
přítomnosti a pravděpodobně
i v budoucnosti budou hledat
nesmrtelnost. Myšlenka nesmrtelnosti
provází lidstvo už od dávných dob
například první epos na světě, Epos
o Gilgamešovi, je také o hledání
nesmrtelnosti. Nakonec Gilgameš
nenalézá fyzickou nesmrtelnost,
ale kvůli jeho činům si ho lidé
zapamatují.
Nesmrtelnost fyzická je pro nás
lidi vyloučená, ale studie říkají, že
teoreticky, kdybychom odebrali
část našich kmenových buněk při
narození, a postupně jimi budeme
nahrazovat naše už staré, několikrát
duplikované buňky, mohli bychom
prodloužit život o tisíce let. Bohužel si
myslím, že tato studie dopadne stejně
jako všechny předchozí pokusy o
dosáhnutí fyzické nesmrtelnosti.
Nesmrtelnost spirituální je čistě
teoretická věc, ačkoliv se spoustu
studií pokusili prokázat posmrtný
život, všechny z nich dopadli fatálním
neúspěchem.
Vědci se to snažili prokázat tím, že
zastavili dobrovolníkům přísun vzduchu
a tím začal odumírat mozek, ale
mrtví jsme teprve, když náš mozek
odumře ze 100%, ne z 20% nebo ze
40%. Mrtví jsme tedy jen jednou a
po smrti se už nikdy nevrátíme. Ale
křesťanství říká, že po fyzické smrti
dosáhneme spirituální nesmrtelnosti.
Naopak budhismus říká, že po fyzické
smrti se narodíme znovu do fyzického
života, ale vyznavači budhismu se
tenhle cyklus snaží přerušit, a tím
dosáhnout spirituální nesmrtelnosti.
Nesmrtelnost v kultuře. Tohoto
typu nesmrtelnosti dosáhneme,
pokud se zapíšeme do dějin nějakou
významnou formou umění, například
knihy, hry, filmy, hudba, divadelní
hry, obrazy, sochařství a mnoho
kopíruje názory ostatních a nedělají
si své vlastní názory. Odpovědi na
otázky nejsou špatné nebo správné,
jsou jen jiné.
