Aktivitet, struktur og historie
Det rådgivende ingeniørfirma Grontmij I Carl Bro
A/S udgør den danske del af Grontmij koncernen,
der er noteret på børsen i Amsterdam.
Koncernen, der består af rådgivende ingeniørfirmaer
med base i henholdsvis Belgien, Danmark,
Holland, Sverige, UK/Irland, Tyskland og
Polen, er et af de største rådgivende ingeniørfirmaer
i Europa.
Det danske selskab blev grundlagt som en enkeltmandsvirksomhed
i 1959 af ingeniøren Carl
Bro og er siden vokset til Danmarks tredje største
rådgivende ingeniørfirma, hvor mere end
1.100 medarbejdere i dag samarbejder om at
levere bæredygtige løsninger inden for ekspertiseområderne
projektledelse, byggeri, infrastruktur,
miljø, vand og energi, IT-løsninger herunder
geografiske informationssystemer samt industrielle
løsninger og design.
Den nuværende struktur i Grontmij koncernen er
et resultat af, at den tidligere Carl Bro Gruppe i
sommeren 2006 blev købt af det hollandske
børsnoterede rådgivende ingeniørfirma Grontmij,
og selskaberne i Carl Bro Gruppen – herunder
datterselskaberne i Sverige og UK/Irland –
blev en del af Grontmij koncernen.
I Danmark medførte det, at selskabet i begyndelsen
af 2007 skiftede navn fra Carl Bro as til
Grontmij | Carl Bro A/S. Derved blev den unikke
adgang til viden og erfaring, som medlemskabet
af en international koncern giver, afspejlet i navnet.
Selskaberne i Danmark, Sverige og UK/Irland er
dermed på lige fod med Grontmij-selskaberne i
Holland, Belgien, Tyskland og Polen en del af
den samme koncern med udgangspunkt i det
hollandske moderselskab. Som konsekvens
heraf overgik ejerskabet til de tidligere Carl Broselskaber
i Sverige og UK/Irland i 2007 til
Grontmij i Holland. Det danske selskab er fortsat
moderselskab for enkelte datterselskaber i både
Danmark og udlandet, der drives som en del af
den danske forretning.

Activity, structure and history
The engineering consultancy Grontmij | Carl Bro
A/S makes up the Danish arm of the Grontmij
Group, which is listed on the stock exchange of
Amsterdam. Comprising a broad range of engineering
consultancies based in Belgium, Denmark,
the Netherlands, Sweden, the UK/Ireland,
Germany and Poland, the Grontmij Group is
among the largest engineering consultancies in
Europe.
The Danish company was founded as a sole
proprietorship in 1959 by Carl Bro, who held a
degree in engineering, and has since then
grown into Denmark’s third-largest consulting
engineering company, where more than 1,100
employees today work as a team to supply sustainable
solutions within the fields of project
management, building, infrastructure, environment,
water and energy, IT solutions, including
geographic information systems, as well as industrial
solutions and design.
The present structure of the Grontmij Group is a
result of events in the summer of 2006, when
the Dutch listed engineering consultancy Grontmij
acquired the former Carl Bro Group, and the
consolidated enterprises of the Carl Bro Group –
including its subsidiaries in Sweden and the
UK/Ireland – became part of the Grontmij Group.
In Denmark, Carl Bro a|s therefore changed its
name to Grontmij | Carl Bro A/S at the beginning
of 2007 to ensure that the unique access to
knowledge and experience offered by membership
of an international group would be reflected
in the company’s name.
The enterprises in Denmark, Sweden and the
UK/Ireland – just like the Grontmij enterprises in
the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Poland
– thus form part of the same group under the
umbrella of the Dutch parent. Consequently,
ownership of the former Carl Bro enterprises in
Sweden and the UK/Ireland was transferred to
Grontmij in the Netherlands in 2007. The Danish
company is still the parent of various subsidiaries
in both Denmark and abroad, which operate
as an integral part of the Danish business unit.
