Viktors Eiduss is working in Denmark as a customer
consultant in company NCR. It is an IT hardware
and software company.
His customers are fuel companies like Statoil.
He is 39 years old. He tells about impressions and
differences between Riga and Copenhagen.
Mit Danmark – far away, so close.
We are different… Are we? Well, it depends of course on
ones own point of view. So, here is mine.
I’m living in København. I’m living in Riga. Going back
and forth as much as possible. At least once per month.
For me it’s a really big advantage that Riga is just about
an hour flight, thanks to AirBaltic. It gives me an opportunity
to compare two countries and people every time
when I travel.
First point – social security.
There are certain criteria how to evaluate country and
people. That is government attitude to children and senior
citizens. How are they doing? Do they feel well? I
think – “yes”. That is the most and biggest difference.
This attitude from government obviously creates an attitude
from citizens as well.
Just a small image from every day running life. Two elderly
people – man and women. Sitting in the train besides
each other. They are smiling. I really feel, that
they are happy and enjoying each other after so long
time being together. They just know that they have
worked hard, and now can enjoy being together for the
rest of their life.
Other point – tolerance.
That is one subject we have to learn hard in Latvia. It’s
a really difficult for me to imagine Nørrebro in Riga. We
