MYP in Berlin<br />
(Derek Scott, Class Teacher)<br />
MYP 1 travelled to Berlin between the<br />
3 rd and the 6 th of May <strong>2010</strong>.<br />
It was their first class trip abroad and,<br />
for many students, their first overnight<br />
trip away from their parents.<br />
We studied the history of Berlin, using<br />
archive film material, before we went,<br />
and afterwards wrote stories and diaries<br />
about the trip.<br />
During the trip we witnessed the rebuilding<br />
of a major world city which<br />
had been destroyed by war and split by<br />
politics. The class were accompanied by<br />
class teacher Derek Scott and our German-speaking<br />
Danish teacher, Anne-<br />
Berit Fischer.<br />
While we were there, we visited the<br />
Technol<strong>og</strong>y Museum, The Spectrum<br />
Interactive Science Centre, the Olympic<br />
Bell Tower (which also housed the<br />
Olympic Stadium Museum), Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche<br />
(which was very<br />
calming...), The Sony Centre, Berlin Zoo,<br />
The Brandenburg Gate, and the Jewish<br />
Museum.<br />
We also visited the Reichstag – but with<br />
a two-hour wait to get in, we made<br />
better use of the time, including a fourhour<br />
open-top-bus tour of the city,<br />
which allowed us to see the Berlin Wall,<br />

Checkpoint Charlie, and many other<br />
historic and memorable places.<br />
All our other travelling was by public<br />
transport and we found a very good<br />
value unlimited travel group ticket for<br />
less than 3 Euros per person per day<br />
– so we got around very well!<br />
We also visited Alexanderplatz, where<br />
we concentrated on recreation, by<br />
spending time shopping at Galeria<br />
Kaufhof and then ten pin bowling at<br />
Rathaus-Bowling-am-Alexanderplatz.<br />
The trip was a great experience and<br />
some very tired, happy, students came<br />
home on the 6 th of May!<br />
3.G <strong>og</strong> 2.hf sidste skoledag<br />
<strong>og</strong> gallafest<br />
Sol, sommer <strong>og</strong> studenter er emner, der<br />
hænger uløseligt sammen.<br />
Fredag den 21. maj begyndte sidste fase,<br />
inden vi kan udklække årets studenter,<br />
idet de havde sidste skoledag med efterfølgende<br />
galla-afskedsfest.<br />
De kommende studenter var inviteret<br />
til morgenmad på skolen kl. 9.00. Igen i<br />
år dukkede de op i meget fantasifulde<br />
udklædninger lige fra pigen i bikini<br />
over Maren-malkeko til Avatar-folkene.<br />
Der var brugt timer på, at udklædningen<br />
blev så perfekt som mulig, <strong>og</strong> resultatet<br />
var fantastisk.<br />
