S I G R A F L E X ® U N I V E R S A L PRO SIGRAFLEX ® UNIVERSAL PRO is an adhesive-free graphite sealing sheet made from impregnated flexible graphite foil with perforated 316 (L) stainless steel sheet reinforcement. It is a further development of our well-established SIGRAFLEX UNIVERSAL sealing sheet, which is now suitable for applications subject to TA Luft (German Clean Air Act). In this new form it offers many users the advantage of an easy and quick changeover to TA Luft gaskets without the need for any extra major expenditure. Changes to standardization, redesign of flanges and training of assembly staff can be dispensed with, because the material's well-tried gasket factors have been retained. Applications ■ For TA Luft applications ■ For all common flange designs used in the pipework and vessel sector ■ For internal pressures of up to 100 bar and gasket pressures of up to 140 N/mm 2 ■ For corrosive media and high temperatures; for existing plants, vessels and steam lines; for heat transfer oil and heating facilities Properties ■ Meets TA Luft (VDI 2440) sealability requirements ■ High blow-out resistance (TÜV-tested at 2.5 times the nominal pressure) ■ Increased operational reliability due to better oxidation resistance ■ Suitable for use at temperatures ranging from -250°C to approx. 500°C. For applications at more than 400°C, users should request our advice ■ Ease of handling ■ Good scratch resistance, antistick finish due to impregnation ■ Very good resistance to chemicals ■ Long-term stability of compressibility and recovery ■ Good resistance to thermal shock Approvals ■ BAM ■ Blow-out resistance (TÜV-tested at 2.5 times the nominal pressure) ■ DVGW ■ Fire safety according to API 607 with Exxon modifications ■ TA Luft (VDI 2440) Assembly Instructions Use dry and undamaged gaskets. The sealing faces must be clean, dry and free from grease. Do not use release agents. Position the gasket correctly to avoid mechanical stresses during assembly. Align the flanges as plane-parallel as possible. Tighten the bolts in cross-wise order, first to about 50 % of the maximum torque value, in the second stage to about 80 % and to the full value in the third stage but not before. All bolts must be tightened to the specified value; hence, the torque should be checked repeatedly. Packaging Depending on the quantity ordered, the sheets are supplied in cartons or on pallets with stackable frames and top cover. The sheets are protected against damage by inserted corrugated cardboard or foam rubber strips. The carton can take up to 50 kg, the pallet up to 1200 kg. The height of the frame structure is adjustable. The consignments can be arranged on the pallets to customers’ individual wishes.
