QuIcK rELEASE DEPOWErLOOP – dieses<br />
Quick Release befindet sich oberhalb vom Depowerloop<br />
und sollte nur in Notfällen gezogen<br />
werden.<br />
QuIcK rELEASE ALEX – dies ist dein Sicherheitssystem,<br />
<strong>da</strong>s sich nach dem Auslösen schnell<br />
und einfach wieder zusammenbauen lässt. Benutze<br />
es, wenn Du den Druck aus dem Schirm<br />
nehmen möchtest. Die Bar rutscht weg und der<br />
Kite hängt nur noch an der fünften Leine, und fällt<br />
drucklos aufs Wasser.<br />
VOrLEInEn oder LEADEr LInES – <strong>da</strong>s verdickte<br />
Stück Leine, <strong>da</strong>s die dünnen Leinen mit der Bar<br />
verbindet.<br />
StEuErLEInEn – diese Leinen führen von den<br />
Tips deiner Bar zur Trailing Edge des <strong>Kites</strong>.<br />
POWErLEInEn – diese Leinen führen von der<br />
Mitte der Bar zur Leading Edge des <strong>Kites</strong>.<br />
cOntrOL BAr – die Lenkstange.<br />
hArnESS – Hüft- oder Sitztrapez<br />
KItEBOArDIng – Überbegriff für <strong>Kites</strong>urfing (auf<br />
dem Wasser), Snowkiting (auf dem Schnee) oder<br />
Mountainboarding (auf dem Land).<br />
KItESurFIng – Kiteboarding auf dem Wasser.<br />
OVErPOWErED – in dieser Situation ist der Kite<br />
für Können, Gewicht, Kraft des Fahrers und für die<br />
herrschenden Windbedingungen zu groß.<br />
unDErPOWErED – in dieser Situation ist der<br />
Kite für Können, Gewicht, Kraft des Fahrers und<br />
für die herrschenden Windbedingungen zu klein<br />
und zu kraftlos.<br />
rEAch – eine Fahrtrichtung, zwischen 90 und 160<br />
Grad zum tatsächlichen Wind gesehen.<br />
BAcKStALL – nach Lee zurücksinkender Kite<br />
bei nachlassendem Wind oder Depower. Wenn<br />
du merkst, <strong>da</strong>ss der Kite beispielsweise aufgrund<br />
einer Böe unstabil wird und droht, zurückzusinken,<br />
ist es wichtig, <strong>da</strong>ss Du die Bar von Dir wegschiebst<br />
und depowerst.<br />
Wind terminology<br />
OnShOrE - der Wind bläst vom Wasser direkt<br />
oder in einem großen Winkel aufs Land. Bei solchen<br />
Windverhältnissen gilt besondere Vorsicht<br />
beim Kiteboarding, hauptsächlich beim Starten und<br />
Landen.<br />

LEADEr LInES - thicker pieces of line that connect<br />
the thinner lines to the bar.<br />
StEErIng LInES - lead from the tips of the bar to<br />
the kite’s Trailing Edge.<br />
POWEr LInES - lead from the middle of the bar to<br />
the kite’s Leading Edge.<br />
cOntrOL BAr - the steering device the rider<br />
uses to control the kite.<br />
hArnESS - a piece of equipment used to temporarily<br />
attach the rider to the control bar harness<br />
line. This enables the rider to save energy by utilizing<br />
their body weight and all of their muscles to<br />
hang on to the kite. Most common: the waist harness<br />
(attaches around the torso) and the seat harness<br />
(attaches to the waist and around the legs)<br />
KItEBOArDIng - the term used to describe the<br />
sport of power kiting on water or snow / land.<br />
KItESurFIng - the term used to describe the<br />
sport of power kiting on water.<br />
OVErPOWErED - a situation in which the rider<br />
has a kite too powerful for their ability level, weight,<br />
strength, and/or wind conditions.<br />
unDErPOWErED - a situation in which the rider<br />
has a kite not powerful enough for their ability<br />
level, weight, strength, and/or wind conditions.<br />
rEAch - a direction of travel relative to the wind<br />
direction. Generally 90-160° off the wind.<br />
BAcKStALL - kite falling backwards in weak<br />
winds or in depower mode. If you notice the kite<br />
is unstable in gusty wins, push the bar away from<br />
your body and depower.<br />
Wind terminology<br />
OnShOrE - wind is blowing directly or to a great<br />
extent directly from the water towards the land. Be<br />
careful when operating your kite near water in this<br />
wind direction.<br />
SIDEShOrE - wind is blowing from the left or from<br />
the right, in a direction parallel to the shore. Ideal<br />
wind direction for kiteboarding on water.<br />
OFFShOrE - wind is blowing from the shore,<br />
directly or to a great extent out to the water. Do not<br />
operate your kite near water in this wind direction.<br />
