Unser Ziel ist,Informationssysteme sicherer und zuverlässiger zu machen, als sie es heute sind.
Bedingt durch die Komplexität heutiger Informationssysteme und die vielftiltigen Möglichkeiten
diese anzugreifen, ist die Entwicklung vertrauenswürdiger Systeme eine große technologische
Herausfordenrng. Wir entwickeln formal fundierte Methoden und Werkzeuge ftir sichere
Softwareentwicklung und testen diese in Fallstudien und bei der formalen Modellierung und
Analyse realer Systeme. In diesem Zusammenhang, suchen wir nach Doktoranden, die an formalen
Ansätzen für die Informationssieherheit interessiert sind, insbesondere in den Gebieten
Informationsflusssicherheit, statische und dynamische Programmanalyse und Grundlagen
s c hr i t tw e i s e r S oftw are e ntw i c kl un g.
Als geeigneter Kandidat verfügen Sie über einen überdurchschnittlichen Hochschulabschluss in
Informatik oder Mathematik. Alle unsere Forschungsthemen erfordern einen soliden Hintergrund in
Formalen Methoden oder Logik. Kenntnisse im Bereich Informationssicherheit sind hilfreich, aber
keine Voraussetzung. Vorwissen in einem der folgenden Gebiete wären ein Plus: Automatisches
Theorembeweisen. Model Checking, Modellbasierte Softwareentwicklung, Programm-Analyse und
Semantik von Programmiersprachen. Sie sollten hochmotiviert sein, herausfordernde
Forschungsfragen anzugehen und sich in ein aufgeschlossenes Team einzubringen.

Publikation Ihrer Forschungsergebnisse auf hochrangigen internationalen Konferenzen wird
erwartet und untersttitzt. Die Anstellung erfolgt als Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter/\zlitarbeiterin
nach TV-H und beinhaltet sowohl Forschungstätigkeiten als auch eine Untersttitzung des
Lehrbetriebs. Die Gelegenheit zur Fromotion wird gegeben.

founded in2007 as part of Theoretical Computer Science.

Positions for PhD-students (Doktorandenstellen)
Our goal is to make information systems more trustworthy (i.e., corect, safe, and secure) than they
are töday. As software engineering is a complex and error-prone task, we see the need for applying
formal methods for reasoning about information systems and critical system properties. Our
activities include the advancement of theoretical foundations, the development of methods and
tools, and the application of our ideas in practice. In this context, we are looking for applicants who
are interested in formal approaches for information security, in particular in any of the following
areas: information flow security, static and dynamic program analysis and foundations of stepwise
software engineering.
As a suitable candidate, you hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or
Mathematics. For all our research topics, a solid background informal methods or logic is required.
A background in information security will be helpful, but is not a prerequisite. Prior knowledge in
any of the following areas is also a plus: automated theorem proving, model checking, model-based
roft**" development, program analysis, and semantics of programming languages. Candidates
should be highly motivated to tackle challenging research topics and to contribute to an openminded
team.

The positions offered are regular jobs with social benefits. They include research as well as teaching
obligations. The salary will be based on the TV-H public service salary scale (equivalent to former
SAT na). German language skills are not required in the beginning, but the willingness to learn
German within the first year is expected.
